I don’t think Southgate will do that. One reason the press looks good is because of the energy Gallagher brings. You then sacrifice a bit of central creativity for that. If you had Foden and Bellingham central with only Rice I think they would be exposing out fairly weak defense much more
In which case you improve the defence by not picking Maguire and actually picking a reserve right back in the squad.

we don’t have strong enough defenders to not get torn to shreds by tricky front 3’s. Foden Rice Bellingham is probably fine against most teams but not Brazil/France imo

Paqueta is a class player but he's lost the plot a bit today. Esp for a friendly.

Would love to sign him. Imagine the upset.

I know he won't, but it's still worth a look at. Gallagher has been great in the press, but quite average on the ball.

Meanwhile Foden is trying to come infield and there is no out ball on the right.

Gordon looking like a great shout for the left though. He's growing in to the game.

Another Southgate snoozefest?
I don't know, I was quite enjoying the first half but I've now given up the telly and Xbox team my daughter, she she can play with her mates.

There had been some half decent chances for both sides and I wouldn't say it was a boring game, just maybe a bit scrappy.

And Maguire is shit.
