Our route to the final currently is as follows:

Colombia
Switzerland/Sweden
Croatia/Russia

There are no "easy" games at this stage of the tournament, but on paper you'd have killed for this draw at the start of the tournament, surely the luckiest draw I can think of since Liverpool's Champions League run.

We will likely get a big side in the final, but the other thing to consider is that each of the big sides we will face will have had a series of very tough and intense games to get there (eg - France could play Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil to get there, Brazil could play Mexico, Belgium and France).

The problem is - both Croatia and Colombia will also be looking at that draw and thinking it's their best ever chance to win the World Cup. And both of them are good enough to knock us out. Really looking exciting though.

James Rodriguez is obviously not fit so I don't think he'll make much of a difference if he starts anyway.

England should worry about themselves and not look at who their potential opponents could be as they have only won 2 KO games in the World Cup since 1990.

I have looked at Colombias qualifying campaign....James Rodriguez carried them through that group, its a tough group but they aren't world beaters.

If we can't put together a performance that beats them then we don't deserve to be there, with the quality we have up top, we should have more than enough to beat them.

I know this is a one off knock out game but we have one of the best strikers in world football, play to his strengths and we can win this. In Kane we trust.

Have we seen much evidence we've played to his strengths thus far? We didn't create that much against Tunisia. We wasted a lot of chances sure but as far as I recall they mainly fell to Lingard/Sterling. We battered Panama ofc but his goals were two set pieces and a deflection.

Well he seems to be the focal point of the attack, even if they aren’t creating chances he is still creating all sorts of issues, at corners he could have had 4/5 penalties this tournament, teams have highlighted him as the man to mark and he hasn’t got a bad return so far in 2 games.

Sky Sports have run polls to see which England players the general public would back to score in a penalty shootout. Most of the players except for a few of the defenders are generally quite well backed (98% reckon Kane would score in a shootout). The only exception is Raheem Sterling, who for some reason has 79% of voters expecting him to miss :ROFLMAO:

Lets not talk penalty shoot-outs please. I cant afford the money for a defibrillator, and i'm damn sure my heart cant take watching sterling walk with the ball to the penalty spot.

I think it will be settled in normal time. Our defence isn’t good enough to hold out for longer than 90 minutes.

I'm getting nervy now. Looking like I might have to work for the final. Seriously might quit my job (currently interviewing anyway).

Got a feeling Dele will play and have a good game. Now’s the time he needs to step up, harry can’t score all the goals and Sterling seems incapable of transferring his club form to international level.
