Would love to see a lineup for the away Qarabag game of something like:
McGee
KWP CCV Wimmer Davies
Winks Carroll
Townsend Onomah Pritchard
Njie

Surely that could handle them, and we'd only need Pritchard and Njie for the bench the next game (assuming Trippier and Dier take the two defensive bench slots).

Even if we don't take it as far as I have (I doubt we'll see CCV or KWP, and I suppose there's no need to exclude Vorm) it's still very manageable even before more signings.

you could still play dier (provided jan and toby are fit and we have a DM) and one of walker/tripper in that team too

I can't find any dates for when these will be played. When are the dates released? Wonder if I can convince the Mrs to have a couple of days away in Monaco.

A bit of a tough draw, Monaco haven't quite had the fire sale some thought they would once out of the Champions League, while Anderlecht wont be mugs despite not being what they used to be. When we play who, and where, could be key. Get early points on the board, hopefully have Qarabag away towards the end of the group when we can send the kids over, and should get through and give some of the kids some game time.

I think that's quite a tough group and if we don't take it seriously we could well find ourselves out of the competition.

Am I missing something? How are Monaco in pot 3!

We'll do well to get out of that group and unfortunately it means we'll need to put strong teams out.

Makes it even more vital we sign another CF. We really are fucked otherwise.

In all honestly, the Europa League is our best shot at Champions League football next season. I'm glad we've got a fairly tough group, hopefully it means we take it very seriously.

Anderlecht from pot 2 was a great draw.
Monaco from pot 3 was good in terms of travel, not ideal in terms of their strengths.
Qarabaq though ... fuck that shit.

They have no coefficient because they are a new money side.

Like City in their first couple of years, they haven't played enough in Europe to have a decent coefficient. Their only European season in the last five was last year.

repeat of the 84 final should get the middle aged lots juices trickling, including mine.

plus a chance to come and have a look at we could have won in the form of moutinho and martial. unless one of them changes sides befor next Tuesday is out...

much rather decent names than the shite weve been drawn against in recent years.

Totally agree and it will have a big impact on our league form.

Let the small clubs like West Ham or Southampton worry about the Europe affecting their schedule, we have been in Europe for 10 years or so now so we know how to handle things.

If we can't handle Europa what's the point in qualifying for the CL anyway and secondly if you win it you qualify plus get a trophy so that should be our aim.

I don't think Southampton and west ham are particularly concerned to be honest. Especially since they are both already out.

Fair enough. I could have sworn they used to play in the EL.
