I understand people looking at the positive, however, we set out looking for a striker, lcb and rwb. Ended with a winger and cm. Far to reactive and opportunistic. That’s not a planned rebuild which is concerning.
Show me the striker, LCB & RWB that sold that we could have gotten.

I think one thing being missed a little here is at least these two players will know each other very well. Settling in might be a bit easier in this respect.
And they're fucking mustard. People on here would be screaming to the hills if we signed Kulusevski from Parma or Betancur from Boca. I think their image has been tainted by a stale period under Pirlo, they're quality players.

We had a squad that was formulated towards 4-3-3, with 2 for each position (22 players)

2 GK: Hugo, Gollini
2 RB: Emerson, Doherty
5 CB: Rodon, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Romero
2 LB: Reg, Davies
6 CM: Winks, Skipp, Hoj, Dele, Gio, Ndombele
6 FW: Son, Kane, Bergwijn, Gil, Moura, Sess

Now we have a team set up for 3-4-3, with 2 for each position (20 players)

2 GK: Hugo, Gollini
2 RWB: Emerson, Doherty
6 CB: Rodon, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies, Romero
2 LWB: Reg, Sess
4 CM: Winks, Skipp, Hoj, Bentacur
5 FW: Son, Kane, Bergwijn, Kulu, Moura

So when you look at it, we have reduced the squad massively while maintaining 2 players for each position and pivoting towards Conte’s formation. The gaps we have are in the FW and CB position which I’m sure we’ll look to resolve in the summer.

Wish i could winner this 100 times. Need to copy & paste this across the Twitter meltdown.

Yes we could have strengthened at RWB, but with no takers for Doherty that was unfortunately not going to happen.

Big summer ahead to get the players Conte' truly wants (RWB, LCB, ST)

Ive waited till we got that bit of news - tbh overall it is a bit disappointing but also a tricky one to judge.

Positives:

- We have shifted of a lot of our deadwood, although they are only loans so could end up back here in the summer (apart from Dele obv)
- We signed 2 players with previous high potential who know each other.
- We covered RWF and CM

Negatives:

- With only 2 incomings the squad looks very thin atm and quite unbalanced
- We missed out on a few of our first choices and plans went pear shaped somewhat
- Some of our Summer targets now look off the table

Its definitely hard to judge until we see how the Juve lads get on. They had high potential but havent been inform for the last couple of seasons. A lot of people are hyping them but have never watched them play. Its very much a wait 2 months and then judge the window imo.

At the very least I think Antonio Conte is happy with all of this.

As long as he is on board, with players who buy into his system, we have a chance.

I would take our current situation 1000/1000 times over last January with Mou, and I think every honest fan would too.

Conte blocking a loan move for Harvey White tells me we are short.

Feels like a good window for the summer but a very risky one for the rest of the season.
Conte historically has a very high fitness/non-injured rate for his players based on his physical regime, and at present we're at full strength of 22 squad players with a relatively light schedule in just two comps... I don't think it's 'very' risky ... or even risky...though of course there is a risk. But assuming at least one of glc/n'domb goes permanently in the summer and Gil shows progress to return to the squad alongside Sarr we're in great shape to spend a big fee' on an lcb, a rwb, and a backup forward, with plenty of wage budget to spare. If we sneak into 4th then we could afford to bring in 3 superstars in the 50-80m range and change our focus towards a serious title challenge next year imo.

For a minute, imagine Conte's top targets are;

LCB - Pau Torres
CM - Bissouma
RWB - Spence
CF - Jonathan David

Do you honestly think these players would have been available now? They're not are they so we have to hold on to the summer.

We've down what we needed to. Move players who Conte had no plans for on or get them in the shop window, signed a CM who is better than what we have (also fits Conte's style) and got a potentially quality attacker in.

I am tad bit disappointed here. It was pretty clear at the start of the window a RWB and a creative mid would be priority. Then we went behind Adama because Conte was "ready to convert him to RWB", then suddenly "Conte isn't convinced about Adama" and the deal collapses. Then I thought there could be other options better than Adama that we might be exploring. And suddenly that front went quiet entirely. Then we signed a defensive CM and a right winger. It feels more like the priority was always to shift the three CMs conte didn't want and fill that space vacated by them. Rather than fill the pre-existing space in RWB, Creative CM and backup CF.

Think we will be alright until summer. I have a good feeling about our two new players. Another CM would have been ideal, but if we play 3-4-3 Skipp, Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Winks should be enough for the next months.
