If we beat Pompey...

Villa in the Final would be a perfect match-up in the year I marry a Villa fan :)

assuming we beat pompey and it is a massive assumption given our injury crisis, our record of losing four semi-finals in a row, that a ref is capable of giving three pens against us, if Gomes got red carded, etc etc etc

but assuming we win it has to be Villa, because we're much moe likely to beat them than chelsea ATM

may be different come May, but unlikely

I don't understand why people would want to face a team that in all probability be hot favs

when we won the Cup in 81 we didn't beat any of the biggest names/strongest teams in English football at the time

which were villa pool forest arsenal ipswich etc - not city (who weren't as strong relatively as villa are now)

did it matter - did it **** - we won the greatest FA Cup final we've ever played in and one of the greatest ever involving any clud

it ended 14 years of FA Cup famine and i loved it to bits as i think did any sane spurs supporter

the wolves semi-final and city final wins - i was there for both of them - both in the all-time top 10 spurs games I have witnessed no danger

the atmosphere at both highbury in the North Bank and wembley behind the goal where villa scored the winner was immense

i have to say villa cos we've got a better chance of beating them

exactly LT - it's as simple as that

incidentally if the nightmare were to happen and we lose to pompey, I'd rather chelsea win

couldn't take Villa winning the Cup

pompey or chelsea I could live with - chelsea are out of our lge anyway, and pompey fans can laugh at us all they like - we'll be literally out of their lge next season, so it won't bugging me on that score - of course what will be bugging me - driving me to tears i wouldn't be surprised is us losing that semi-final

i can't even bear to think about it - that's why o'hara can't play and we have to play our strongest possible team

and if they end up with two academy players on the pitch, and a keeper from their coaching staff it's all fine by me

the weaker their team the better

I remeber when we beat watford 4-0 back in a 80s semi-final

some spurs fans weren't celebrating to much cos they had a scratch side

i loved it - we were at wembley - that's all i cared about

i'd seen us lose to watford before - i wasn't happy at all

it was just a shame coventry didn't put out a scratch team in the final - rather a 3-0 stroll than lose a 3-2 classic

Or if things were to get a bit heated there might not be a marriage!

I voted either.
Nicer to beat Chelsea, but 'easier' to beat Villa.
Would be wicked to qual for Europe by actually winning the cup (especially if the whole 4th thing goes wrong).

i think you are all underestimatin villa, if they get to the final it will be there second final this season. they lost the first, they will NOT want to lose this one and will be even more up for it than us!

i dont think its a question of who we meet in the final (IF we beat pompey), its more which spurs will turn up!

The problem with everyone wanting Villa is this...we have dominated them twice and really struggled to score. They are (usually) very strong in defence, so that is a worry. I could see it going to penalties. At least with Chavski we would either beat them or get a hammering, think I'd prefer that TBH.

I'm not underestimating villa - but chelsea 7 villa 1 is a good indicator as to the better side

i think you'll also find that chelsea start favs v Villa and that if we face Chelsea in the final our odds will be longer than if we face Villa

it's as simple as that really

we have more chance of beating Villa as things stand

of course

Cech could get injured again - Drogba suspended, anelka injured etc etc - it's just about probabilities

it's likely, with players like Daws King lennon hudd corluka etc back we'll start slight favs v Villa - i just can't see anything but chelsea starting as fav v us

as a final 'for the neutral' (not too many of them on football - chelsea west ham arsenal etc will all be mainly supporting villa) us v Villa would also be a good one i reckon - two evenly matched teams both short on silverware this century, and IMHO playing for the title of 5th most successful club in English football history, could produce a real game and a half

plus i think villa fans would be more up for it than the current crop of chelsea fans who er aren't very good to say the least

plus we've beaten chelsea in FA cup and lge cup finals

villa we've only done in the lge cup

let's complete the set with a 100% record against both of them :)
