A place to discuss all matters Championship, League One and League Two now and for the next nine months.

Anyone here have any second teams in the lower leagues? Players to look out for? Who will go up and down? For my part I just hope Wycombe do better than the hugely disappointing 15th place in League Two last season.

Anyway, Sheffield United and Notts County kick us off, exchanging special 125th anniversary balls before kick-off. Goalless after 8 minutes so far.

Thanks for this thread. Been wondering if there was to be one. Sheffield United started confidently tonight. Think they'll be up challenging promotion again by the looks of things.

EDIT: Born and raised in Crawley, also wrote for the programme for a time so hoping can challenge for play-off spots this season.

League One has been an incredibly tough league to get out of in the last few years, been lots of good sides there. This is Sheffield United's third season down there, they'll be dying to get back up.

Going to be even tougher this year more than most.

FIRST RED OF THE SEASON!

Wow, massively reckless challenge by the County defender, definite red. Only 13 mins gone.

Excellent chance now for United to pick up 3 points.

Going to be a difficult league with the likes of Wolves and Peterbrough coming down. But, Crawley have as good a chance as any with the first game being at home vs Coventry eho are in a mess. Feel bad for heaping more pressure on them, but got to be done sadly.

Swindon will be an interesting team to watch too. Tough place to go and plenty of Spurs interest obviously.

Anyone betting tomorrow? I'm tempted to have a flutter. So hard to call though - Any gems anyone seen in the market? (Talking English football league)

Yeah, it's going to be a real fight for top two again. Brentford will definitely try to kick on, United, Posh and Wolves should do well. Not sure about Bristol City, just to have mentioned the last of the relegated sides. Swindon will also hope to be thereabouts, and Crawley as you say. It'll be a huge fight.

I never bet on opening day, there are so many unknowns.

Watched us against Millwall and we played really well. Think we'll surprise a few this year. Not expecting promotion, but top half would do me seeing as this is only Crawley's 3rd year in the football league.

1-0 United. Been coming. See them getting a couple more before the end of the game.

I follow Stevenage as my home town club, risen up the leagues in recent years but lost virtually all of the players that were responsible for that, the manager (Westley) left but is now back for his 3rd spell in charge but the budget has been cut and they have to be looking to just survive in League One in my opinion.

Also look out for Bristol City after going to a few games whilst at Uni. Relegated to League One but I think they have had a clear out, have a good manager in Sean O'Driscoll and should be looking at pushing for the playoffs at least.

Sean O'Driscoll left Crawley after a matter of weeks last summer. Left us for Forest IIRC.

I live near Oxford so I always look for their results but just so I can rip the piss out of all the deluded Oxford fans (they really are the League 2 lolpool)

Of course with local rivals Swindon taking so many of our loan players and the fact that they are only about 30 mins from me I might take in a game or two of theres this season.

Oxford now have an ex-Crawley fav in David Hunt. Hope he does well for them. Good lad, always enjoyed a joke and loved the fans.
