Uruguay's coach has told a Uruguayan radio station that Suarez had agreed to move to Barca back in November with Liverpool and Barca agreeing a price. He goes on to say that Liverpool backed out of the deal the day after the England match. "He was a changed man. He could barely train with the rest of the team. I had to have him train with a different group from the main squad".

Seems to suggest the bite was planned?

Not bad for a player that's going to be banned again at some point in the future. Someone really needs to sort that boy's head out.
I imagine barca will be able to if anyone can. One thing for them is that they do treat their players very well I think & they'll have a bottomless pit of money to throw at this problem, psychologists & wotnot

They probably going to say that he 'has a condition' & that he has to wear a mask or something like that. That would be hilarious!

In a bit more detail...

"Uruguay's manager Oscar Tabarez has claimed that Barcelona have had a deal in place to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool since last November.

The controversial forward's potential move to the Catalan giants has been the biggest transfer story of the summer so far, but now Tabarez is claiming that the deal has been as good as done for some months.

Tabarez made the comments during a radio interview with local Uruguayan station Sport 890.

"Luis had told me about the Barcelona interest in November last year a few days before the Jordan match," he said.

"At that time the talks between Liverpool and Barcelona were very good and an agreement was arranged back then.

"After the amazing season he had Liverpool did not want to sell him understandably and they began to back out of the deal they made with Barcelona in November last year.

"Luis got word of this a day after the victory against England. He was a changed man, he got upset and his head was elsewhere. He could barely train with the rest of the team. I had to have him train with a different group from the main squad."

Suarez signed a new Liverpool contract in December, giving him a four-and-a-half year deal, but crucially with a buyout clause inserted, something Tabarez's comments indicate was put in to facilitate a Barcelona move this summer."

The last paragraph contradicts the rest of the article - if the deal was in place why would it need further facilitating with the clause? Similarly, if there is a clause then why the panic from Suarez when the supposed deal fell through?

If FIFA are going to reduce the ban I can't see it happening until After the WC has completed. They will believe that the average football fan won't care and the "apology" will be used as mitigation. Liverpool are a VERY lucky team to be able to sell him at such a high price considering he's mentally damaged. It will be interesting to see how Rodgers blows the cash compared to Supermarket Dash Daniel

Luis Suarez to Barcelona will, as expected, be a £75m cash deal. None of #LFC spending so far dependent on his sale

If the interest was in Novemeber, why an earth would his agent let him sign another contract in December ?
Yeah....the whole interview/article was made up ....would've been all over our press today otherwise.
It was funny seeing the reaction to it on the scouse forums nonetheless.

If the FA had any balls, they'd hold onto his registration until they were satisfied
that the latest bite was not connected to his club affairs.
Then if necessary hold onto his papers until he had served an appropriate ban (6 months? 1 year?).

I had every sympathy with liverpool when this episode seemed like an international/FIFA issue,
but now there is good evidence that this latest event is just a continuation of his club exit strategy from a year ago.

well it seems a bit of a coincidence that every time he has bitten someone, he was attempting to engineer a transfer....thats THREE times !!

Whilst I understand your point the FA have plenty of incentive for the deal to go through
1) they are rid of a player who has a poor disciplinary record
2) he has bought poor publicity to the English game
3) they get a cut of any transfer in/out so it's income from a massive deal ( plus income from the buy-ins that Liverpool spend)
