According to the Daily Star Chelsea are keen on Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has impressed in north London since joining from Southampton, turning Spurs into regular top-four finishers and we look certain to finish ahead of Chelsea this season – particularly if we win at home to Watford tonight.

The article adds however their west London rivals are sniffing around the Argentine as they hunt for Antonio Conte’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

Football consultant Ian McGarry said on The Transfer Window Podcast: “The interesting thing about Real Madrid is if Zidane doesn’t win the Champions League or suffers from burnout or whatever else that makes him step down, is the lack of coaches out there Real Madrid can recruit.

He added: “Pochettino would be something of a gamble because he’s not a serial winner, in fact he’s never won anything”

He went on to say: “Pochettino would be something of a gamble because he’s not a serial winner, in fact he’s never won anything. But what they see in Pochettino is potential and a personality, someone who relates to players very well.

He also added: “Chelsea are also interested in Pochettino. And although that’s a very long shot because of the history between Chelsea and Tottenham, it’s something Chelsea could do financially.Pochettino could stay in England, stay in London, perhaps get a bigger transfer budget, not the position he’s in now where he’s at loggerheads with his chairman over salaries.”
That chelsea link is so ridiculous. Chelsea have obviously decided to opt for the constant turnover of managers model. Why would he be interested in becoming another managerial statistic?

Thoughts are kept in your head, they become opinions when you say or write them down. It wasn't an attack on you. You are allowed to have an opinion, but its flimsy at best, I'm allowed to have mine too :)

Its 'flimsy' in your 'opinion'....we shall agree to differ....(y)

I'm sure half the clubs in Europe are impressed by Pochettino. He's one of the most highly rated young managers in the game

It’s becoming abundantly clear that the cheese room has gone way over budget, and Poch has only just been informed. What’s Stambouli up to these days?
Playing with Bentaleb at Schalke - in a back 3 last time I saw him. Couple of blasts from the past!

It's basically Chelsea biased media contacts trying to unsettle us in the run in

Honestly I thought he was tactically poor today, if Watford was a bit lucky they maybe could’ve got a point. Why’s he being so defensive at home to Watford who’s been poor away from home? Where has our pressing gone? Playing with Dier-Wanyama-Sissoko in midfield could’ve cost us, we invited pressure. So frustrating even though we won

The Chelsea link is an absolute embarrassment for any reporter to make.
Our revenues next season will be far greater than Chelsea so trying to peddle a move based on the financials is ridiculous. Coupled with our likely CL qualification and them missing out makes it even more ridiculous.

The sheer ignorance of this comment from someone who should have a superior knowledge of the game is genuinely delusional.

As for Madrid, I don't believe Pochetino has shown enough in the really big games for them to gamble on him.

Interestingly on MNF Neville said Poch would be his choice for the next Utd manager. This is what I fear most once Maureen leaves them.

I agree.
United still appear to want that style of manager who will build a dynasty based on youth rather than the Mourinho type who buy success.
Jose won't go anywhere for at least another season but after that I can see them chasing Poch.

This is the guy who had a fit because, in a very important game, we didn't bring on Moura at 2-0 up with 15 mins left when Watford were really starting to find space and put us under pressure.
Tactically poor? sweet, sweet irony lol.

This has been blown up based on Neville's comments. By all accounts Poch was considered by Utd before they appointed Mourinho and Utd went for the win now option in Jose due to their market and brand position (and need to be in UCL). A lot of the people who were influential in the decision at Utd knew that Jose did not play the Utd way and that winning would come at a cost to style but they went for the balance sheet first approach.

Have things changed enough for them to change their stance now? I personally believe we will have Poch for at least two years at the new stadium and if we are successful then he will continue, if not who knows. Real and Utd are the only two places I believe he will leave Spurs for.

I for one am not going to sit and worry about what happens in 2 years from now! That would be him as manager for 6 years at that stage, cant remember the last time we had a manager for that long.

I love Poch and as I have said on here before he has raised the empathy between club and fans to the best level since the early 80's but we can't have a model where we are f*cked if he is no longer the coach that is not good business!

Funny how some fans blew up when Poch bought on Wanyama and then Sissoko. Crying out for Lucas or Llamela.
We're 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go with the last of those 2 subs. Watford were getting into the game more and putting pressure on our defence.
Sound thinking from Poch....... just like a fully qualified experienced manager would do....... see the game out.

Spot on there. In this modern era of football, it is just not realistic to worry too far ahead.

I agree that he's not going to go to Chelsea, but I'm not sure I agree about the finances. In the most recent reports Chelsea are still miles ahead of us revenue-wise. The gap will obviously close somewhat next season with our bigger stadium and CL vs EL competition but I don't think our revenues will be "far greater" as you put it. In the commercial side of things they shit all over us even if they don't have CL football.

They were 70 million euros better off than us last season.
That will be covered just by the increase in revenue from the new stadium.
Chuck in the naming rights and the multi-use stadium earnings coupled with CL V Europa and I suspect we'll be at least 20% above them in turnover (which in my opinion is far greater).

I think Levy understands the limitations of our footballing commercial value so has developed a business plan that creates non-footballing commercial value, concerts, NFL, museum, giant club shop with NFL merchandise, hotel, training facilities etc which will be realised next season, and even more so the one after.
