Even though we've had ITK saying that the wage cap will be increased and there will be more funds to spend this summer?

Maybe it's a good idea to wait and see what happens rather then fall into the media trap of idle speculation, whatever happens this summer in terms of contracts and transfers will tell us a lot.
Not just a media trap though is it? Poch is literally saying these things now whereas in December he was saying when the new stadium comes that is the time we should push for the title.

This article sums up what I've been feeling the last week or so, listening to MP's comments. He's completely changed his tune talking about when we go into the new stadium - earlier in the season he was saying that when we move - then we can be judged and compete for titles with the other big clubs. He was so bullish about that earlier in the season - how everything will be different when we move. In the last couple of weeks he's changed tack and is now saying the opposite -- that nothing will change. It will be the same financial model for years to come. ie sell to buy, low wages.

I obviously had feared this would be the case, given we are basically following Arsenal's model I expected a 10 year period of austerity post-moving into the new stadium, but all the messages coming out of the club were that the stadium move would pay immediate dividends.

Reading between the lines here it seems that MP has had a conversation about budgets for next season -- and this has caused his total about-face from a message of 'judge me on trophies in the new stadium', to 'nothing will change'. Hence the recent comments 'me or another'. Sadly, it seems we are rapidly approaching a situation where Pochettino is not going to be backed and will feel that he's taken us as far as he can.

To me that article just read like the bitter and jealous goober that Hytner is. There is not one sentence of optimism or praise. Its all disaster disaster disaster. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Anyone coming up with petty excuses as to why we lost the game against Utd, are probably the same bunch of people who said the same stuff when we were winning against Juventus and ending up losing..
Is pretty amazing how they just can't get why we lose and blame everything but our own players, tactics and managerial decisions.

When you're winning a must win game : shut up shop and play with your heads.
Its really not that hard to work out.

Don't blame the ref for not sending off an opposition player to make it easier for you. Don't blame bad luck.

Just blame the people who were controlling us, not the others controlling other things.

I don’t think anyone is making excuses, they’re just pointing out that there is far more reason for optimism not pessimism and a bad game/ month isn’t worth shitting the bed over.

According to the Daily Star Chelsea are keen on Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has impressed in north London since joining from Southampton, turning Spurs into regular top-four finishers and we look certain to finish ahead of Chelsea this season – particularly if we win at home to Watford tonight.

The article adds however their west London rivals are sniffing around the Argentine as they hunt for Antonio Conte’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

Football consultant Ian McGarry said on The Transfer Window Podcast: “The interesting thing about Real Madrid is if Zidane doesn’t win the Champions League or suffers from burnout or whatever else that makes him step down, is the lack of coaches out there Real Madrid can recruit.

He added: “Pochettino would be something of a gamble because he’s not a serial winner, in fact he’s never won anything”

He went on to say: “Pochettino would be something of a gamble because he’s not a serial winner, in fact he’s never won anything. But what they see in Pochettino is potential and a personality, someone who relates to players very well.

He also added: “Chelsea are also interested in Pochettino. And although that’s a very long shot because of the history between Chelsea and Tottenham, it’s something Chelsea could do financially.Pochettino could stay in England, stay in London, perhaps get a bigger transfer budget, not the position he’s in now where he’s at loggerheads with his chairman over salaries.”

I agree, Pochettino should have come out and said we've got a shitload of money to spend on players and wages, to ensure we get minimum value in the transfer market over the summer.

All he's said is that moving into the new stadium doesn't mean money will instantly start falling from the sky..i dont understand how the latest quotes contradict what he said in december, he was obviously referring to the long term when the stadium will mean we'll be able to compete financially.

There's also the consideration that the financial landscape has now shifted somewhat. We can probably start offering in the 120-150k region, maybe a bit more for a select few, but there are now players getting 250-300k in the PL (Sanchez is on even more!). Liverpool now have players on £180k. I always think the line from Poch has been that it'll help us compete and reduce the gap anyway.

I dunno, they look just the sort of comfy leisurewear that someone might want to chill in while scouting a stream of a promising young No 6 or No 8 type midfielder in the Belgian 2nd division of an evening...

Because they are my thoughts I don't need to back them up with any facts at all....So many people on here have been slagging Poch off for playing Kane when the team was doing quite well during his injury absence and was obviously 'off form' upon his return...I was merely pointing out the fact that it may be Poch is in the difficult position of not wishing to upset his star player who is demanding to play.....Chill pal....is your world really based on 100% fact ??....are you not allowed an opinion/view/idea/thought ??

Thoughts are kept in your head, they become opinions when you say or write them down. It wasn't an attack on you. You are allowed to have an opinion, but its flimsy at best, I'm allowed to have mine too :)

It’s becoming abundantly clear that the cheese room has gone way over budget, and Poch has only just been informed. What’s Stambouli up to these days?
