I do genuinely think we've fucked this window up completely but I'll reserve my meltdown until after it actually closes.

and that somehow translates into "big signings completed early in the window as incentive to sign a new contract amid interest from madrid"

o_O

I was only referring to the 3 signings aspect of it as I dont see how even thatll happen now.

Poch put pressure on Levy at the end of the season by unusually breaking ranks and saying Levy needs to be brave and hinting at uncertainty regarding his future etc, he then signed so were obviously assured of something. Many assume that this was a promise of new purchases, but I wonder if it wasn't more to do with the wage structure and paying the likes of Kane what they deserve. To me this is more in character with what we have seen from Pochettino, looking after his players and wanting to keep this squad together. He signed and we then smashed the wage structure to keep Kane happy. I suspect we will learn that Eriksen and Alli and other key players have also signed vastly improved contracts. Clearly we want to buy well in this window, but it is possible that Poch's biggest concern has already been resolved in what was a pretty monumental move from Levy.

Jeez....supporters today man... So self entitled. I want this player, I want it now, nice and shiny and i don't care where the money comes from.....
I'd guess that many of our regular matchday-attending fans*, who will be paying the highest prices in the country next season, care quite a bit about where the money comes from. Probably why plenty of them would likely welcome us showing an increased ambition in our ability to compete in the 'second' financial tier of the transfer market (because even the most impatient fan knows we can't compete in the top tier), commensurate with the top tier ticket prices that they're being asked to pay this year.

*for the record, I'm not a regular myself

Plenty of time left - for all we know, there are deals under the radar and waiting to be actioned. We announced 2 on TDD last year, and so there's plenty of time to get things done.

Either way, Pochettino will surely have his own responsibility towards whether we sign players or not. A lot of the flapping comes from fan rumours which live in a paradox of "use the youth" and "sign loads of players".

I would not blame Poch inthe slightest if he walked if we do not strengthen by the close of the window. Levy fell on his feet when he appointed Poch, it seems he still doesnt realise how lucky he got.

Is this place turning into RAWK? So many over-the-top reactions here regarding a transfer window that doesn't close for two weeks. Good god.

I think Poch made it quite clear at the end of last season that he wanted any signings in so that they could participate in pre-season as getting players in last minute makes it tougher...thats the crux of the matter...

Or Poch himself was applying pressure to get himself a better contract?

Why do so many think Poch is as clueless as you (we) are about what’s happening in the transfer market?

We don't - I imagine having full clarity is also f*cking annoying though, when your near rivals are significantly improving their squad.

I appreciate there's loads we're not seeing, but I find it hard to believe that we'll turn this around in 10 days.

We badly need new recruits in CM, AM and possibly defence. Are we actually need good players.

If we don't get them, we'll (a) p*ss off the manager, who has just turned down the biggest job in World football and (b) face a massive risk of not re-qualifying for the CL in what will certainly be a very difficult league next year.

I wonder how long our best players, who would instantly become the best players in the world outside the Champs League would stay? Hint: They wouldn't stay, and nor would the manager

Im a regular, and if any other regulars were seriously expecting us to go mental in the transfer market, then obviously they weren't listening to Poch's comments before the season ended.
He said that we had to be clever in the transfer market, and different to the other big clubs.
His brave comment was imo, obviously about our wage structure, which we coincidentally happened to smash a few weeks later.
