Seen on BBC sport " Michael: As a Chelsea fan, it is so frustrating to see us be consistently linked with average players like Grealish, Ramsey and Zaha. Ambition? What ambition? "

Everybody is moaning !!

Really concerned about our first game, if it is true that Poch is not going to start with any of the players who returned from World Cup duty today . Hopefully Harry and Co. can come on in last 20 if we are struggling.

That Chelsea fan should be celebrating that Hazard is likely to be staying in that case.

The long term health of the players is more important that the first couple of matches.
Hopefully the experience they gained going deep in the competition will outweigh the short term inconvenience.
Eriksen & Son are available and it’s a great opportunity for Lucas.
I think if we make some good signings before the deadline it will give the whole club a lift & we won’t have to rush back the World Cup lads.

Even if we did make a couple of signings doubtful if Poch would put them straight in , he doesn't usually.
What didn't make sense to me was going to Girona straight after a return journey from the USA what was the point of it except make the players travel weary. Surely another warm up at Hotspur Way would have been better.

Agreed, I wasn’t suggesting they would play, just the new player excitement to raise spirits rather than rolling out the World Cup lads in desperation. Can make fringe players work harder too as competition for places.
Agreed about the friendly too, I could be wrong here but I think I remember Poch saying something when he first arrived about hating the travel in pre season & preferring to work with players at home, things change I guess.

Going through the available players for Saturday , who is going to hold the centre of midfield for us. I am assuming that Wanyama and Winks not available, 1st team squad players available are Vorm, Aurier, Sanchez, Foyth, Cameron-Vickers, Kyle WP, Sissoko, Lamela, Son, N'Koudou, Lucas and Llorente it's the sort of squad that struggled at Rochdale.. Also seems Janssen has a squad number but Onomah doesn't ??

Just hope Newcastle have had a poor pre-season.

We haven't even updated squad pictures on our official site yet, so I wouldn't worry about squad numbers. We've normally been announcing them the day of the first game of the season, recently anyway

Amos
Sissoko - Eriksen
I asume. Both Janssen and Onomah have their old numbers still, 9 and 25. Until the squad list is submitted

I bet our starting lineup isn't far off being:

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Dier
Dele Eriksen
Lucas Kane Son

City played a few World Cup players yesterday. They've had their pre season already and just had a quick break, they'll all be pretty much ready to go.

Hope your right and that Poch is just playing mind games with his interview about the world cup players.

Yeah, don't see how John Stones can play but ours can't.

Obviously depends what condition they are in, better off giving them a rest than risking injury

‘I’m here to win. The reality is to win and to have the argument about whether you have the tools to win is a different matter. We have had massive success at the club, getting Champions League for a third year in a row.
‘But maybe that is not enough and maybe we need to change certain things because for me it is not enough. I want to challenge and fight to win things until the end, that moment when my chairman Daniel Levy says to me, “Mauricio go home and find another project”.’

Are these today’s quotes? Saw them online but it was in the daily mail.

More:

"If some people believe the manager of Tottenham doesn't want trophies they are not right in their minds," said Pochettino. "I am here to win. Another reality is to win and to have the argument about having the tools to win. That is different.

"Of course it is a massive success for the club to be in the Champions League for the third year in a row. But maybe that is not enough, or maybe we need to change certain things. For me, it is not enough.

"I want to challenge and fight until the end, or until that moment when my chairman Daniel Levy says to me 'Mauricio, go home or find another project.'

"I feel responsible for this after four years with the club, to try to achieve what the fans want. Maybe our history and the reality is different, but the players are fighting and working so hard, and we are there.

"Maybe we didn't deserve more for many reasons, but of course to compete at that level and challenge the big sides that are only focused on improving their teams, while the reality for us has been improving our facilities -- building the training ground and new stadium -- I think it is not fair to compare us with these kinds of clubs, that are only focused on improving their squads.

"Can we win something this season? In football, all can happen. It will be tough because our opponents are at a level where every year they improve.

"For us, it's always about keep pushing with different energy and different tools. Everything is different. We are competing in the same race but with a different car."
