More:

"If some people believe the manager of Tottenham doesn't want trophies they are not right in their minds," said Pochettino. "I am here to win. Another reality is to win and to have the argument about having the tools to win. That is different.

"Of course it is a massive success for the club to be in the Champions League for the third year in a row. But maybe that is not enough, or maybe we need to change certain things. For me, it is not enough.

"I want to challenge and fight until the end, or until that moment when my chairman Daniel Levy says to me 'Mauricio, go home or find another project.'

"I feel responsible for this after four years with the club, to try to achieve what the fans want. Maybe our history and the reality is different, but the players are fighting and working so hard, and we are there.

"Maybe we didn't deserve more for many reasons, but of course to compete at that level and challenge the big sides that are only focused on improving their teams, while the reality for us has been improving our facilities -- building the training ground and new stadium -- I think it is not fair to compare us with these kinds of clubs, that are only focused on improving their squads.

"Can we win something this season? In football, all can happen. It will be tough because our opponents are at a level where every year they improve.

"For us, it's always about keep pushing with different energy and different tools. Everything is different. We are competing in the same race but with a different car."
Maybe I'm being pessimistic but this rings of damage control to me. Perhaps he's just toeing the company line because public demands for signings would damage our negotiating position, but that sounds like a manager who has accepted that our squad won't even remotely be keeping pace with our rivals'.

Nothing has changed in four years regarding our ability to keep pace with our rivals with regard to spending. We just cannot compete. So we have to be clever and find a different way. It’s always been the same.

[Sportske Novosti] #thfc have seen a €40m proposal turned down by Inter Milan for Marcelo Brozovic.

If we are trying for him, would be good cover for CM

At this stage no player is going to come in and make a real difference which is what we need. Bit part players aren't going to win us a trophy which is what is now necessary.

I think he'd start. Well, I hope, because I don't want Dier in midfield this season.

Are you saying that the article you posted is from 2017 and many people feel the same now, and last season turned out okay ... so everyone chill out .. ?
I can't remember how long the transfer window had left at that point last year. With two days to go and barely anything tangible in terms of potential signings, I don't expect anyone to feel relaxed.

Getting nervous now just over 48 hours left and seems to be lots of rumours of popping up in the last 3/4 days without anything concrete appearing surely time is running out to get deals done.

I too am a bit nervous. Talk of getting 3 players in, but that is extremely ambitious in such a short timeframe. Most likely is a deadline day bid for Grealish, but nothing else seems close.

Anyone with a shred of balance is probably flying by the seat of their pants right now. Only thing I am clinging to as more of an optimist is that besides the little updates about players out, the ITK has been, for the most part so so quiet. As Herc so often puts it, praying hands, this means that something positive (it might not be good in some peoples eyes) is about to happen.

Please?

I'm honestly not worried if the window closes and we haven't signed anyone, we've got a good young settled squad that is getting better every year.

We're a bit light in midfield IMO. A few too many fitness and injury issues - Wanyama, Winks, Dembele. Added to that apparently we're trying to offload Sissoko.

One good CM signing and I'd feel a lot more relaxed.

His release clause is just under £45m, and they've been trying to get him a new deal as they think it's too low, assuming it's BS but that's classic Levy if true!

If he has a clause then this has the highest chance it will happen

The little-talked about elephant in the room at PSG: to make signings of any note this summer whilst remaining within FFP regulations, they surely have to sell Gonçalo Guedes or Angel di Maria. 2 or so days left for Les Parisiens to leverage a Premier League side into a big deal. @GFFN
