The FA cup semi of last year?...
Instilling a mentality helps though. When you've waded and floundered your way through so many managers and 'personalities' the club has never had much to base itself on.Ah I thought you had made an error my bad. I still think you play the most experienced players in the biggest game. When ever the pressure has been really on we don't win. Its disappointing and there is clearly something missing mentality wise at this club.

Stability at the top (footballing/on the pitch) has a lot to do with it. Surely the rest will follow ... My opinion of course.
I agree that this summer should be viewed as a big one, I know people claim every summer is big, but with the ground work put in over the last couple of seasons and what we have all witnessed I would hope Poch is backed.I agree mate but Poch must also adapt, this attitude of only taking PL and CL seriously is laughable. Lets hope we get it right this summer as its a big one

this is literally the definition of insanity.Pochettino does not need more money. His way of doing things and way of competing has not been built on big money. It's hard work, intensity, young hungry players, and forging a mindset where they will go out there, give 110% and run through brick walls.
What he needs is to stick to this approach even more, apply it as close to 100% as he possibly can, and be even more ruthless. There are still gaps in the squad that need addressing, but personally I don't think you need to strive for like for like quality - take Kane's backup for instance, what you need is someone hungry who can offer high energy for 90 mins and with a die for the cause attitude, rough up defences and allow the Eriksen's, Alli's, Son's etc to take advantage of it. And if players have lost that hunger after a few years, then it's got to be bye bye.
I also think that as a collective some of the standards in terms of what we do, the press/work rate/intensity etc, have dipped a bit, or certainly been a bit more inconsistent than the last couple of seasons.
Or we could just focus on supposed marquee players.....
Probably why so many people on here and elsewhere feel this summer is genuinely a big one.The worry is by the time we finally develop this "mentality" this very good squad will have broken up due to more and more of our best players getting itchy feet.
I have often wondered if it would be a good idea to sign a few more experienced players, but this simply goes against what Poch and Levy are about.
Obviously this current Spurs team are the best we've had for sometime so it's hardly wrist slitting time, but I do feel like as a club we're on this endless hamsters wheel.
Apart from he didn't say that and his comments have hilariously been twisted by the media and our own fans to suit their own agenda. He has never said that he doesn't take the cups seriously, he said that the cups won't put us on the same level as the PL and CL would.
He also said yesterday maybe he should play the kids in the 3rd round moving forward, what message does that send? I have no agenda, my only agenda is supporting this club and praying we win.
He said that whilst under massive pressure and frustration, not that long after the final whistle. It sent no other sort of message other than here, here's another stick you can beat me with. Kudos for picking it up and using itHe also said yesterday maybe he should play the kids in the 3rd round moving forward, what message does that send? We'll be paying off the stadium for some time and I don't expect us to make a massive leap in either wages or transfer fee - however I do think there will be some increase but not to put us on a level playing field with any of the other top 6.im still pretty fed up about Saturday BUT im clinging (naively perhaps) to the idea that the stadium move takes away the final (financial) 'excuse' for coming up short in the biggest games. Between new contracts for the core of our team plus a few new signings i think it could be a more interesting summer in the transfer market and we should know pretty quickly whether we're in position to compete or whether its just propaganda.
We arent like those teams, we are like arsenal under wenger post henry, a group of players who achieve top 4 and referred to as kids/young team, who before you know arent that young anymoreWe are the new Newcastle under Keegan or Leeds under O'Leary it seems. A good entertaining side but ultimately nowhere near good enough to win anything. I hope that changes. But actually we have regressed over the past year. We are now significantly weaker at FB and CM. I struggle to see us sufficiently improving those areas in one summer.
The chelsea team that won the premier league under mourinho had an average age of 24.3 years according to thisYes but he also needs to be less stubborn at times. Two key players were missing that we needed on Saturday. If we are to win something we need experience and not just kids who are giving their all.

Poch is leaving anyway according to the Sunday supplement
