Nah genuinely, in my head one of the very reputable ITKs said he stopped turning up to training. Couldn’t for the life of me tell you who - it’s six years ago! But his style of training was very hands off; he left most of the work with the players to Bond and Jordan. I swear we got ITK that once he was linked with the England job he took it a step further and stopped traveling from his seaside home a good chunk of the time.

I remember that ITK to, he stopped coming to training

But then according to Duncan Castle in The Sunday Times sports section ; he is claiming that Poch want to go to Madrid.

I can't copy the article in here as you need a Times subscription to read.

What is his trackrecord like?

More known for ravenously noshing off Mourinho at every opportunity than being a reliable journalist

It's not up on their (truly shitty) website yet. The gist seems to be Pochettino would like to leave but won't force the issue and would like Levy to reach a deal. Which is a useful angle for a journalist as he can say he was right whatever happens.

There's no new quotes, it's just a rehash of quotes from yesterday's book launch in Barcelona with a splashy headline and negative spin.

Balague was certain that Poch won’t be going to Madrid this summer. One of the reasons he gave was that Levy’s reputation precedes him and Madrid did’nt fancy trying to negotiate and get fleeced by Levy :)

Would’nt normally believe Ballbag, but he obviously has a good relationship with Poch

Iirc castles was a mouthpiece for avb. Says it all IMO.
Latelt he has basically been just a mouthpiece for Mourinho. Was the only journo to vote him manager of the season the year before when ManU finished 6th in the PL and tanked the end.

This country needs a revolution, a dictator installed and the press culled.

If memory serves the rumour was he came to training sat in his office till it was time to go home. Can’t remember who posted it though.
Redknapp never took training sessions anyway, that was the other coaches job. He just motivator, and believed in playing players in the right position. Its actually amazing how effective that kind of managing can be sometimes.

Just the difference between manager and head coach I guess. It's like when some teams have a manager but then hire a first team coach. Confusing, but but abnormal

Balague was literally sitting side by side with Poch in a press conference/meet only the day before yesterday. Pretty sure he'd have a better clue as to what's going on than Castles.

It's extremely annoying though that this has been put back out there just as the time the story had been pretty much killed off. Makes me wonder about the source for it, and the reasons behind

I read the Castle's article. It's a crock. A real bit of comedy gold to be honest. It's a headline in search of an article.

It claims
1. Perez has been engineering Poch's takeover for months and met with him to assess him.
2. Mentions Balague's report then ignores it.
3. Perez made the decision to replace Zidane before the CL final.
4. Poch publically expressed his desire for the job by praising Zidane and chopping up his quote about it not being brave to manage Madrid but left out that bit.

It's annoying but I really don't know anyone who takes Castles seriously. He probably did a chuckle for his true love in Mourinho.

Are we still on this? Poch just signed a new contract. Kane, Ali, Eriksen, just followed suit. He's not going anywhere. Media hype.
