What happened?
He just very calmly said the United situation was covered at the press conference yesterday and despite protests from Sky he refused to indulge any questions apart from about last night and the next game.

What’s he been saying?

He has always said he doesn't believe that Poch will go and said he doesn't expect Poch to come out and say he won't (go to UTD) because what if they came in with an insane offer it will make him look stupid.

He was at the press conference before the Arse game and Spurs/Poch said they would only allow 5 minutes to answer questions about the UTD job, before this morning's one they said they wouldn't answer questions on the UTD job and yet sky had to keep pushing, sounded like he was having a dig at sky

Out of interest what did Les Reed say?
I saw he was on the Debate, but turned it off the second I saw Merson was also on there.

Spurs respond to speculation linking Poch with the United job with a message in the form of Christmas jumpers.

Just said that Poch is in a difficult situation because if he said that he wouldn't take the job now and anything happened before the end of the season and he decided to take it then he would rightly be questioned for previously saying that he wouldn't take the job.

Coming out and denying the rumours won’t make them go away, you only give them credibility by responding.
If Poch came out and said “I am not interested”, you then get Man U to offer record salary/transfer budget to Poch to convince him blah blah blah. Then you get the pundits, “you don’t turn down those sums, “Spurs couldn’t match that!” etc. It then goes on.
How many times has Harry Kane said how committed is to Spurs? But they still print the stories, the pundits still think he is off if Madrid came in for him.
Poch has said so so so many times over the last 5 years how happy is at Spurs, and yet they still print the stories (leaving that bit out obviously).
Also you can’t predict the future as Poch says. For argument sake, say he falls out with Levy, it could happen, Man U then looks more appealing but he ruled out, he would look like an absolute dick!
He is not leaving! We all deep down know that because as Spurs fans we actually listen to what he says and we know how he behaves. The pundits know what they know, and the press need a really good story that’s there job!
Another thing, what is saying to Harry and Co who love him for the way he treats them and his values of the team, that they have bought into. Look at Kyle Walker he would be the biggest hypocrite, surely he is not lying to them? I am sure Harry has asked him, what’s going on gaffer?

One thing is for sure if Levy gets a sniff that he is thinking of taking the job he will be out. Man U is currently a rival, he would not want there manager anywhere near our squad! Tap tap.
But he is staying, so worry not!

I gh
I think Pochs would be happier if we got certain players tied down to new deals as much as incomings. I personally don't think he'll go, but my one concern is if levy believes it's a possibility no way will be sanction any incomings in the same way he didn't with Redknapp when he thought he might get the England job. I can understand this but imo the best way to keep hold of Pochs is at least in part give him what he wants.

No player in their right mind would sign for us with the uncertainty over Poch anyway. So unless he's giving the club cast iron assurances that he'll be here next season, we won't be able to sign anyone, even if we intended to.

He will give assurances, if he’s staying, but they will be kept in house. Poch and Levy will have had to have a discussion about this for the short and long term planing of the club. I agree with Bacon above, if Poch is interested, which I don’t think he is, Levy can’t keep him in post.

Yeah I've said as much also. If he does want to go to United, he won't be our manager for much longer. We couldn't possibly keep him while he was effectively already committed to a direct rival.

Simon asks for the cameras to be turned off while it was sorted out. I wonder if the sky guy was asked to leave.

Word on the street is that once the cameras were turned off, Poch threw a bottle and twatted Dharmesh right on his noggin.* :blackeye:

*There is every chance that I have actually told a pack of bullshit here.

I love the frenzy that all the other clubs fans and journalists with obvious agendas are whipping themselves in to. They literally are over come with happiness at the thought of us losing Poch. They hate that we’ve broken the top 4 barrier.

This is a very big moment in our history I think. If Poch tells Utd to do one we will be able to say that we are one of the big boys now and we’re here to stay. If Poch goes then we will have to take our place back amongst the also rans and accept all the backlash that comes with it.

It's not just whether he goes, if he does go, who does he take with him, that's the killer.

There was an interesting quote I saw of Poch which has me convinced he’s not going and it’s this when he talks about Sir Alex at his interview on Tuesday.

“Sir Alex I think he won his first title after six, seven years. It’s still early here we have to wait”

Poch comes across as a very honest man
And this tells me he’s in Spurs for the long term otherwise he would not have said it.
