I'm not. It's just that if we don't do it now, we have to do that in the summer anyway, unless Toby is willing to agree a new deal. You're not avoiding those problems, you're investing a lot of money to delay them for half a season.
The big difference is we get to keep Toby until the end of the season and he helps us meet our seasonal goals. Because there is no doubt whatsoever we are more likely to win Titles if we keep Toby and we are LESS likely to win titles if we sell Toby in January.
The summer is a different story. Replacements are more available. Sanchez and Foyth have 6 months more experience. We aren’t in the midst of a title challenge and CL campaign. Poch can prepare tactics, have preseason with the team knowing he won’t have Toby and can plan accordingly.
I have no idea why this is even a debate. Toby is going nowhere in January. The notion even being floated by some in here is utterly preposterous.
