So I read the article below and thought we could do the same.
http://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnatio...hotspur-midseason-awards-most-valuable-player
So I will kick off this thread with my thoughts.
MVP (MOST VALUABLE PLAYER) so far
Could be any of the eleven to be truthful but for me (and no its not Lamela :p) it's Toby and here's why
I think he's brought a calmness to the back 4 and Verts actually looks like he's happy.
Brings the ball out quite well, most of his crossfield passing has been good.
Strong and could be captain material.
And we do have the best Defence in the league.
Quality signing and glad he came here.

Hard to argue with Toby but massive improvements from the Mouse, Eric, Coco and Walker compared to last season.

Toby is a good shout but for me it's Dembele. The difference he makes in our composure and effectiveness when on the pitch is astounding for a player who six months ago many would have been happy to see go. Its been a phenomenal turnaround and a pivotal element in our good form.

We are a team, they are all as important as each other.
This. We're getting contributions from just about everyone. But if I had to choose our 3 most valuable players it would go:
1. Alderweireld
2. Dembele
3. Lamela

Even then, Kane, Alli, Dier and Lloris could all slot in ahead of Lamela.

Reading that article, and I'm sorry to all our American friends here, but I really hate American sports vernacular. Particularly when it creeps into describing sports that aren't American, it just seems jarring.

Toby is tremendous week in and week out, and what he's done for the defense is stunning. My clear first half MVP.

Impressed with Walker though. Seems to have put his hernia injury last season well
behind him. Looks very sharp this season.

Have to hand it to Dembele, I thought he was a waste of training gear the last two years, but he looks superb this season. Delighted with his turnaround.

I think Dier, but I wouldn't argue against any one in about ten players being chosen, and that's exactly what is brilliant about us at the moment.

What a turnaround it's been, previously we had 1-2 outstanding players, now virtually half the starting 11 could be classed as MVP.

Dier gets my vote because of the all action performances he's put in. Virtually written off last season, laughed at in pre season for being played out of position, and imperious in every game he has played since.

Kane would have been but even with 30 plus goals last season it was not enough to get into the top 4. But in truth it's a combination of the strength of the spine of the team and the performances of everyone else.

This is not my Spurs and long may it continue

Adebayor!

Very subjective. Any one of Lloris Toby Dier Dembele Lamela Kane would be credible choices. Just goes to show we are not a one man team.

I think Lamela is leading If we were to go by the number of MOTM winners from the various SC post match ratings

Why is this not called player of the season?

MVP is an Americanism where players are only measured as commercial property.

My player of the season is Lamela. Pochs system depends on the front four pressing aggressively and he ensures it works everytime he plays. Defence and attack improves when he plays to a greater degree than any other player.

I'm going to go left field and say poch as none of the improvements in players would have been possible without his foresight.

Getting Toby in was a master stroke, him and verts together are playing like there was a Ledley in the team, cool calm collected.

Moving Dier in to midfield is another masterstroke and saved the club millions by not having to pay to get in a general.

Strictly this isn't poch but what a find we have in Alli, poch has shown if youre good enough then your old enough.

Over and above any individual player improvement, poch is instilling a believe in the team 'to dare is to do' and the team understand this and more than anything they believe any is possible!

For me player of the season and most valuable player are two different things in football.

Most valuable player in football has to be a goal scorer as they always command the most, so for us that is Kane. Simple.

Player of the (half) season is far more difficult and seems to be what most are answering. I would give it to Lamela but Alderweireld, Lloris, Dier, Dembele and Kane are all doing a great job and could end the season with the award.

Has to be Toby for me. He commands and consolidates the defence and midfield and his anticipation and reading of the game is second to none.

I'd go with Alderweireld too. Kane, Lamela, Dembele, Dier, Lloris and Walker have all had great runs at some point, but all have had dips this season too. Toby has been consistently on top form since day one and that's a huge factor in why we've achieved the best defence in the league this first half of the season without compromising our attack (only City, Leicester and Everton have our scored is, and not by much).

As good as Toby and Mousa have been, Kane is clearly our MVP. Without him we've got no goals in our team.

Who scored on Monday then?

I don't necessarily disagree about Kane being MVP, but to say that without we have no goals in the team is a bit ott

Dembele, Lloris, Kane and Toby are the difference makers in our team that we can't replace if they get injured. Alli may become another in the future but not just yet.

The three behind Kane is an area we have lots of options but none of them are truly outstanding and each comes with pluses and minuses.
