Hard to compare that one, as that stadium is 35 yrs old and not thought highly of.

The only reason I'm mentioning it is the same guy (Todd Kline) in negotiations and the stadium went under large renovations and he got one of the highest deals of all time for (as you mentioned) an older stadium. Just reinforces what Levy wants for one of the best new stadiums in the world and the fact that we might get it is huge!

Makes sense!

Surely Starbuck is a character out of Moby Dick so unless Herman Melville comes back to claim it isn't it free to use for everyone?
So Levy's plan must be to demand that Starbucks pays for it to not be named the Starbuck Stadium...then charge another business even more for the actual naming rights. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Here in the US, The dolphins were paid a little over 13 million a year (250m USD over 18 years) from Hard Rock for the sponsorship agreement. We hired the guy who did that deal, so getting 25-30m a year would be absolutely insane!
I can't find a figure for Miami Dolphin's global fanbase to compare to our 180 million, but our social media has 10x the following (Facebook: 22m vs. 2.2m / Instagram 10.6m vs. 1.1m), so our stadium naming rights must be worth more.

"Soccer" also reportedly has about 10x the global following of American Football (based on TV views), so the difference in social media following is unlikely to be a due to a culture difference in how fans "follow" each sport. Even if a smaller proportion of NFL fans follow teams on social media, compared to EPL, that in itself makes naming rights less valuable - social media is such a huge tool in marketing.

NFL obviously has a huge following nationally, but it's widely thought that the US media massively overstates the global following (I find it easier to believe this than not - having watched many farcical clips of US "news" (e.g. Fox News) during the pandemic and last two US elections).

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_professional_sports_leagues_by_revenue found this for reference. The NFL here is the crown jewel and it looks like they make a crap ton of money haha.

You're 100 percent right about the reach. Premier league is watched in all corners of the globe where the NFL wants to achieve that.

Reach is probably more critical in attracting large sponsorship deals than revenue. Revenue per game also skews it in favour of NFL somewhat, as each team plays about 1/3 the number of fixtures as an EPL team - each fixture is a marketing opportunity, whereas each £/$ of revenue that a club brings in from other sources is not.

It should also be noted that Champions League is ranked 9th on the revenue table - meaning the top EPL teams (including us most seasons) play in the two of the highest revenue events in world sport, while NFL teams play in only one. It would be interesting to see what the 'average' revenue per game looks like once you remove the Super Bowl revenue, as that appears to be the big money-maker but most teams don't get any of it...whereas EPL teams get a sizeable share of the overall league revenue even if they have a poor season.

Also, we (Spurs) generated a lot of social media publicity - including repetitive marketing posts for various sponsors - off the back of the media attention that our players were getting during Euro 2020...even though we don't compete in that. With a major international competition every two years, and qualifying + UEFA Nations League in between, our players draw media attention (and marketing opportunities) that NFL doesn't tap into. The Super Bowl winners are considered "world champions" without ever playing a non-US team - they're having to travel to the other side of the globe to play "home" fixtures in another continent to generate a tiny amount of global attention.

I get the feeling Lewis wants a European based NFL team at the stadium. We’ve heard that rumour for over a decade. Who is the most likely and who are they sponsored by and I reckon that might be a clue.

It's always been rumored that the Jacksonville Jags would be the team to move over to London due to the obvious links between their owner Tony Khan (Fulham). They've always tried to play a game in London each season. I don't know what the long term plan is there for the NFL.

Many players need an extra rest day after the London trip, and in American Football every day counts since most of the time players are nursing knocks or small injuries. I could see a London franchise but I could more realistically see the NFL expanding on the amount of games in London/other areas. The two teams that usually play in London will have a bye week after returning.

You also have to walk a fine line for certain teams. For example, I live in Buffalo, New York and it's a smaller market team. I have season tickets, and the fans relish the chance to go to 6-8 home games a year. If you were to take one of those home games away, the fans would revolt. They don't even like the idea of playing a home game in Toronto (which is 1.5-2 hours drive from me) haha.

TIAA is the main stadium sponsor of the Jaguars, but I believe they are only USA based, so not sure on that one. If you want to take a look at the main NFL sponsors here's the link - https://www.nfl.com/honors/sponsors

The only one of those that stand out to me is Visa or Microsoft. We'll have to see, I just hope it's good as done so that we can have more assurances to pay off some of our debt, or reinvest in the team. Either of those scenarios would be positive!

A sizeable naming rights deal...region of 20 mill.....pays our interest on the stadium loan.
Would be quite nice if we get a bit more upfront ..Eg couple of years payment in advance.to get us out of the hole we are currently in.

Sorry, finger trouble, I've removed it.
Honestly I didn't mind mate I always assume it's fat fingers anyway I just thought it wonderfully incongruous that my only ever post about an author, Herman Melville, got rated by none other than JRHartley. Now that you've confirmed it was accidental that's even more spooky?

I wonder if Training Ground naming rights will be the next deal once the stadium is signed off?

I'm not sure there would be much interest in a naming rights deal for the training ground. It isn't often our training ground is referenced by name. I can understand a training kit sponsorship deal because we regularly display training pics on social media

A number of other PL club training grounds are sponsored and, given that ours is used by some of the most followed teams in the world, I would have thought that its naming rights would be more valuable than most.

Only two teams have 'sponsored' training grounds.
Brightons is sponsored by AMEX (the same as their stadium)
Manchester United - They happen to be one of, if not the biggest and easiest to market clubs in the world.

I don't think its coincidence that Liverpool and Machester City don't have sponsored training grounds and they are arguably much more marketable than we are

Edit: there are in some quarters some who think Manchester Cities training ground is sponsored. I'm not sure either way
