Steelers win the division but bell injured... I was getting very excited about their chances in the playoffs but without their starting running back it'll be much harder. And since Blount was too impatient, there's no back up.

If Arizona and Carolina played ten times, you would see ten bad games.

Running back by committee it is then. With the predicted weather if our running game is lacklustre we'll lose.

Very cool of the NFL to hold moments of silence before the games today for Stuart Scott.

Stuart Scott was a legendary and groundbreaking sports broadcaster who worked for 20+ years for ESPN and anchored SportsCenter, the sports highlight show here in America. He battled cancer for alittle over 7 years and succombed to it this morning at the age of 49. Live broadcasted shows pretty much the same night he received chemotherapy earlier on the days. Made "boo yah" cool and "as cool as the other side of the pillow". Brought pop culture and a much more comfortable life like feel to an otherwise very robotic and professional show and changed the show for the better. Stuart Scott was the reason so many Americans watch ESPN, more specifically SportsCenter, day in and day out. Had an impact on the lives of all sports fans and athletes of this generation, whether we knew it or not. We didnt just lose a sportscaster. We lost a legend in the american sports industry, which is why there is such a huge reaction to this in America.

Anyway, onto the games, the Lions got SCREWED. Even former refs and the former head of officiating said as such. But conspiracy theorists abound because the current head of officiating is seemingly tight with the Cowboys front office on a personal level(gotta love tabloids and papparazzi lmao).

The Bengals were without their 2 leading receivers today(Green and Gresham) and only had 4 healthy WR's on the roster. Have to feel bad for them.

Onto other NFL matters, I still cant believe the 49ers front office's, specifically the CEO(Jed York) and GM(Trent Baalke), ego got in the way of football. Jim Harbaugh is probably one of the best coaches in football. But boy am I glad they fired him as a Michigan fan. We needed him to come home and restore the program back to where it should be. Go Blue!!!!!

I am still incredibly angry over Sunday's shit show. I actually don't think I will ever get over it. I hope the Packers stuff those lucky Cowboy fucks and I hope Dez Bryant get laid the fuck out.

That no call didn't decide the game, playing it safe on 4th and 1 and Stafford fumbling twice on the final drive did.

No it didn't, and scoring 3 points in the second half did not help our cause.

But

BUT

It is incredibly hard to put up points in a hostile environment when so many consecutive, big calls go against you. Those calls changed the entire game.

Who is meant to be favourite to win this year's Superbowl? Can anyone do a short little summary of the remaining teams and how much of a chance they have to win? I used to keep up with NFL a couple of years back when the Seahawks had Alexander as their running back, and I'm trying to get back into it. Are the 'hawks likely to win again?

Looking at the stats it seems like they've had a good season, and I remember people saying last year that given how young their team is, they could be a major force for quite a few years.

Well that sort of went to plan for you!

That call against Bryant was an absolute joke though. It was a solid one handed catch - both feet touched the ground while he had possession. If he fumbled it (which I think the call was) then he also recovered it, so it should have been 1st down.

Sweet Justice, and there wasn't anyone else that could have made that better than it being Dez Bryant.

It was the right call of a questionable rule. The rules state a player who goes to "ground in the act of catching a pass...he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground...If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete." The ground caused Bryant to lose possession of the ball before he's made a "football move" so therefore hasn't completed the process of the catch.

The Seahawks are the best team and are playing great too. They are home where they rarely lose, so should make the Superbowl. They're playing the Packers who they already beat this season and Rodgers - their starting QB and favourite for MVP - has a calf injury and it has limited some of the stuff that he's great at. They'll probably be playing the Patriots and they should beat them because they have a better team, but the Patriots have probably the best coach around and I'd never bet against him.

As for the second part, yes they have a lot of great young players. The great thing about the NFL (if you don't support the Seahawks I guess!) with the salary cap is they can't hold onto all of them and their overall team will eventually get weaker as soon as they have to renew the younger players contracts. They'll keep the very best ones though ( I think they've already signed some of them to long term contracts) and as long as you have a great Quarterback (which they do, or at least he's on his way to becoming one) then you'll always be in and around the best teams.

Got to remember that the Packers started a rookie centre in that game. If anyone can beat this Seahawks defense it's Rodgers. But as you say they should make the Super Bowl as they are really hard to be beat at home.

For me the salary cap and the draft system make the NFL more interesting than the Premier League. It's the salary cap that will prevent Seattle dominating like Man Utd, Chelsea, etc. They're supposedly offering Wilson a contract that will make him the highest paid QB in the league, which along with having the highest paid CB and S in Sherman and Thomas means if their scouts don't do well and find some gems in the draft they are going to be thin in other positions and might even have to let the likes of Mebane go.
