I reckon the 49ers got an absolutely amazing player in Colin Kaepernick. If he played for a powerhouse college team he would have been right up there in the draft imo.

Bengals and Lions the biggest winners in the draft so far? A.J Green looks to be pretty outstanding and Fairley is a monster of a player.

Some say Mallet was the best QB in the draft, but had off-field issues. Surprised they took him cause Brady still has plenty of years left.

Even with the off the field issues I cant really understand why he was drafted so low. I watched the Arkansas v Auburn game last cfb season and he single handedly kept them in that game and might have gone on to win had he not gone off injured at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Such an accurate thrower.

On NE's draft board he was. That's why they took him.

Mallet will be able to learn so much from being Brady's understudy. Look at Aaron Rodgers a Green Bay spent 2 years under Farve and now look at him.

The biggest surprise for me was Jake Locker to the Titans at number 8.

Lions getting Fairley was a great pick imo especially with them already having Suh in the defense.

Also interested to see how Mark Ingram does at that Saints.

New England picked a lot of high risk, high reward players this time, which makes sense considering how many picks they had - they could afford to gamble. As well as Mallet and Solder, they picked Ras I Dowling (some say as good as Prince Akamura at CB, but with lots of injury worries) and Marcus Cannon (high second round low first round projected offensive lineman that unfortunately got diagnosed with non Hidgkin's lymphoma. A treatable cancer, but one that rules him out of most of the season.)

The thing is, the number of picks they have, they can afford the risk, as if these guys them turn out as good as some people projected them, they could have as many as four first round quality players from one draft.

I was happy with the Steelers draft, incidentally. Very unflashy, but a great defensive lineman to backup a rapidly ageing line, two solid upgrades to the offensive line, two very promising athletic cornerbacks, a steal of a linebacker in the fifth and a good 3rd down running back at the end. (Baron Batch has a very sad but very triumphant family history, he grew up sleeping on the floor next to a space heater with four siblings, father left, had to take care of his mother with MS until she died, then nearly had a career-ending injury in college. Nice to see him make it to the NFL, he deserves it.)

There's some top names swirling around free agency this year. Wishing the lockout will get itself sorted out, to find out where these guys shake out.

Had heard a behind closed doors meeting between the players and the league had taken placem could be a potential step to fixing this.

Hi guys,

I posted a message here at the beginning of the 2010 season for my fantasy league over at Yahoo and managed to get a few lads from here signed up. They must have enjoyed it as every single one who signed up has already re-regged for this year.

This time I'm starting a keeper money league (£10 entry) and currently have 4 spots left (8 filled already!) There are a lot of settings and scoring rules to go through for 1 post so if you're interested in finding out more PM/e-mail at [email protected] and we'll take it from there. Everyone is welcome to join as long as you're active throughout the entire season. If any of the boys who played last year are willing to second this I'd appreciate it!

Cheers,

KK (RoyalFlush)

The lockout is finally over. It's going to be a crazy and exciting week with trades and free-agency.

Oh, and Favre might be coming back again.

Was it the song that got you to the Saints?
No, katrina

Quite strange how they have grown for me, they are quite important to me now after Spurs obviously first, then Essex in cricket then Saints.

There's talks that Asomugha is going to The Jets. Him and Revis on opposite sides is a scary thought.

Haynesworth traded to The Patriots Eek.

Miami has agreed terms to a trade with The Saints for Bush if he'll do a new deal. Was hoping we'd get Bradshaw instead, but it apparently he wanted too much money. Looks like Orton might be coming via a trade too.

Rice has gone to the Seashawks. Thought he would have gone to someone better.

I thought he might have ended up with St. Louis. They need a WR and he would have been perfect for Bradford. He now has Jackson or Whitehurst throwing to him.

How have a lot of you UK based guys got into the NFL?

I was watching SSN when Kevin Cadle was doing a preview of the new season, I'd previously heard about the whole McNabb fiasco and was intrigued.

Jerry Jones was talking about this guy, giving him another chance etc. I watched the first game of the season and the rest is history.
