Ok first time watching American Football (missed the start due to MOTD2). I have no idea whats going on... What does 2nd & 10, 2nd & 17 etc.. mean?

Basically, you've got 4 attempts to move the ball 10 yards down the field (if you do you get another 4 attempts and this continues until you score or kick the ball away to prevent the opposition getting the ball near your goal line), though if you're tackled behind the line of scrimmage or commit a penalty then extra yards are added to your target.

The offense has 4 downs (tries) to gain a net of 10 yards. If they get the yards they get a fresh set of downs. So you start at 1st & 10, if you gain 5 yards on the first play you'll have 2nd & 5, gain 2 it'll be 3rd and 3, gain 5 you'll have 1st and 10 again.

And for the rest of his life, Norwood will hate that last Carolina defender.

That was good speed from the Panthers guy. it was helped when one of the Broncos got out of his way.

If they don't make the yards within thier 4 downs does that mean posession is conceded? Or can they opt to kick if they don't think they'll make it?

Pretty much. Most teams choose to kick the ball away on their 4th down in order to lengthen the distance the opposition have to move the ball to score.

Tbf to the RB tasked with blocking a rushing defender if I saw DeMarcus Ware running straight at me I'd run away too.

Well if this keeps going the same way I'll be pleasantly surprised. Broncos defence is doing a number on the Panthers so far, but can they keep it up I wonder?

They'll need the Broncos offense to do something positive otherwise the defense will become knackered. Constant three and outs can break your defense.

Coldplay is just an odd choice for the SB half-time show.

This performance is equally odd.

It's as if the NFL is aggressively marketing itself to Japan, or they were inspired by a North Korean parade for Kim Jong Un.

I'm not even a fan of her music (she is nice to look at though) but Katy Perry had a Mecha-Lion and Left Shark...

Coldplay has people playing with paper umbrellas

Last song was nice, but the rest was a bit shit. Are Coldplay even big in America?
