The old guard or the System

Does the club need to consider phasing out the old guard, Kane, Hugo, Son, Dier whilst they all still hold decent values in the transfer market and bring in some fresh new talent? Or is this dip in form a Conte, tactical issue?

So much is made of our inability, unwillingness, whatever, to back the manager sufficiently, and I agree, but just as problematic has been the lack of players we have sold. We have carried so much dead wood for so long, it’s a joke.

Some of those players still on our books should have left before Poch did, but they’re still here picking up their wages or playing in the first team.

We need to move players on. Lloris has to go number 1 he has served the club well but times up.
Dier has to go full stop.
Son if we get a bid of 60 M must be sold.
If Kane doesn't sign a contract and wants out then he also has to go..however I pray he stays and be a one club man.

Davies Sanchez Doherty Emerson Moura all must go. Back Conte

Yes but that means having a proper long term plan. Getting a long term manager with a attacking vision and working/developing younger players. Good scouting, clear direction, ability to accept on some players you won’t get big bucks in a sale.

Everything ENIC are not good at is what in my view we need to do. We need a massive re-fresh.

The problem is we aren’t selling the players at the right time and maximising the transfer fee to reinvest. Kane has 18 months left, son is 30 not sure how much you’ll get for him. Lloris is 36 and won’t command a fee and who realistically will pay much for Dier. All of these combine would’ve commanded over £200m a couple of years back. I know we don’t want to be seen as a selling club, but every club sells their players, the Key is to sell them at the right time and and reinvest to build a squad

To be honest I think we need a refresh from top to bottom. Kanes gone in 18 months so get something for him this summer. I'd try to change Son like Liverpool are going through now had Mane Firmino Salah next season they'll line up Diaz Nunez Gakpo squads need a refresh we just have to many players who've been here to long and need players in near on every position on the pitch.

It's the system - at the moment - because the players aren't available. Instead of playing our two worldies up front and putting another body in midfield where we have a surplus of fit players we got outran yet again. The old guard do need replacing but we are getting exposed time and time again meaning our limited players are also being exposed time and again, highlighting their limitations. Lloris has had it if he doesn't get more protection and that is certain.

At one point, ambition was shown by holding on to your best players and not selling them off to Utd, City etc. Funny how things change.

Old guard. So many players there that shouldn't be or who are in decline.

Love Hugo, but he's got too many errors in him. Dier, Davies, Sanchez all should have gone years ago. Winks is still somehow on our books.

On top of that, we haven't really adequately replaced Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dembele, Eriksen, Walker, Rose. For that reason I'd hold on to Kane and Son because I don't trust whoever is in charge to replace them with proper quality.

Ferguson always knew when the right time to sell was, something we haven’t quite got anywhere mastering

But it was easy for him as he wasn't competing with 3/4/5 clubs with more money than him.

What people seem to want is perfection, sell the players 15 minutes before they turn to shit, always buy VVD (and never Nathan Ake).

I'm as upset as anyone at the way things are at the moment but it's all gotten a little out of hand. Bentancur and Kulu back in the side and maybe we get back on track somewhat.

No. What I don't want is a situation where you have many many players not good enough in your squad seriously who would you prefer right now Lucas Moura and Eric Dier or Thiago Silva and Adama Traore.

Moaning about Contes system being the issue is like a tramp saying if he had a better cardboard box he would have a normal life.

I'm sure we all remember how well we were doing before he came. We need numerous defenders and now thanks to the wonderful owners were going to need to replace our best ever striker because there is no way he is signing a new deal.

I can only assume the club are scouting goalkeepers and are prioritising a top young keeper this summer. But then again nothing would surprise me with this lot.

Son - we'd find it hard to cash out on him now given his age and form. Right up until the end of last season he was one of the best players in the league and there would have been an uproar if we'd sold in the summer.

Kane - we'd have finished bottom half in the last 3 seasons without him. He's that good and so important to us. There is absolutely no chance we'd find anyone anywhere near as good as him that we can afford and wants to join Spurs.

Both. The old guard need to go, even the good ones. I'd probably keep Harry Kane as he's still a great goalscorer, but it needs to stop being all about him. We aren't a team anymore, it's a bunch of indivuals trying to get the ball to Son and Kane, but sadly they just aren't up to it anymore. Wishful thinking that we'll be able to shift anyone though, let's not forget we still have Ndombele and Lo Celso on our books, we seem to find it impossible to sell anyone.

Conte may as well go, he just isn't the right fit. Our pathetic owners are never going to give him what he wants or needs so no point carrying on with this experiment. Just please, please get someone who prefers an attractive style of football - i can't stand to watch any more of this defensive football, especially as we can't actually defend.

Levy is noway a chairman still in the past as you suggest.
What he has created is very much 2023, everything is in place, we have everything there is to be a modern giant club.......off the Field.
Trouble is he's a chairman that has very little knowledge of football, he's just a very very good businessman .

Nothing we don't already know is it.
