ok, i posted this elsewhere but it kind of hijacked the original thread and i would like more people to see that they should believe we can acheive 7th place this term. Here's the post:

my prediction, and what realistically we should actually be achieving:

Blackburn - Win / possible draw
West Spam - Win
Newcastle - Win
Manure - loss
WBA - Win
Everton - draw
Manchester City - Win
Liverpool - loss or win, depending on if Liverpool have secured or lost the title, or got to the CL final. If the PL title comes down to the last game and l'pool hav got to Cl final, then i expect a loss as they are desperate for a PL title under their belts as opposed to another CL one.. however, if Liverpool have already won PL then we should expect a win because they wud play their yungsters to save first team for CL final. Also, if they make Cl final and lose PL before final game it should b a win for us. Therefore, the chances for us to win that final ficture are very good, all depending on liverpool's perfornce.. we need them to play really well So im rooting for them in all their upcoming games in conjunction with ours :p

so thats potentially 18 realistic points (15 if we lose to l'pool and 16 if we draw to blackburn, 14 if we get the not so good realistic outcomes against these teams). This would take us up to 56 maximum realistic points and 52 minimum realistic points. IF we follow the plan, we will definately overtake Man City and West Spam in PL as they are in our run of games. That would put us nineth if Fulham and Wigan perform equally as good as us. I had a look at their upcoming games and conclude that {although i dont follow either team so dont know anything much about their form} Fulham's realistic maximum point intake would be 12 [losing against chelsea(a), drawing against man city (a), m'borough (a), ncastle (a), and winning against Villa (h) Everton (h) on the finaly day] putting their total point tally to 52, our minimum realistic. We would just need to take more than the minimum realistic points or get a better GD than them to overtake them. Ok, so now we would be 8th. ON to Wigan; I predict their maximum point intake would be at 11 [losing against manure (h), drawing to everton (a), arsenal (h), blackburn (a), West Brom (a), stoke (a), and winning against bolton (h), and pompey (h)] putting their maximum realistic total point tally to 52. This is also our minimum realistic point tally and their GD is the same to ours so it should be hard to beat theirs should we get minimum realistic points.

Everton's realistic point maximum would be probably 10 [losing to chelsea (a) and fulham (a), drawing to wigan (h) Villa (a), s'land (a), us (h), and winning to Man city (h), and west spam (h)] putting their total realistic point tally to 58 which is 2 points above our maximum realistic point tally so 6th place would be a miracle to get.

7th place is very very very much a possibility lads, just gotta keep to the results above and its easy sailing. Also,we have to hope that 2 of the final PL top 6 of this season are in the FA cup final; freeing up that 7th place european spot.

This took me ages to go through so yea hope it carifies things

I agree. We have a great chance of winning that game if Liverpool have nothing to play for (and we do). If Liverpool are in the CL final, even better.

wouldn't like to predict the newcastle match just now, need to see what AS will do.

also think we will only get the draw against blackburn

Finally got on my arse and did the BBC predictor thing.

I have Villa pipping the Arse to Europe by two points, Liverpool taking the title on goal difference, Hull, Boro & West Brom down (weirdly, before the last game is played). We finish 8th, on 50 points:

Everton will get more than 10 points for the rest of the season...

i can see us getting turned over by the barcodes and city.

Toon might beat us but city, no chance! Sometimes teams just have the indian sign and we ALWAYS beat city the same way that we nearly always lose to toon. City have been worse than bad on the road this season and if I am correct have won 1 game at spurs in about 20 years!

If we win today I think we have a very strong chance of getting 7th because city, wigan and fulham will all lose or draw and only west ham should win. That will put us in 8th with spammers to play at home. City have a decent run-in compared to us but they just can't win away from home and have to play us.

I would give us a 50% chance of getting 7th!

If we can beat Blackburn today then I certainly will believe that 7th is very possible, we are only 3 points off it now with the spammers still to visit the Lane.

Wouldn't it just be poetic though if after all the fears of relegation end up being joys of a European place again, would be a remarkable turn around, and with Harry Redknapp in charge anything is possible.

Not a friggin prayer now especially with no Palacios and the thought of having to watch (my fav) Zoko for a few games!!

Hopefully all the we can/will finish 7th brigade will calm down a bit now and start taking there medication again.

difficult to see 7th dropping 3 points today and Palacios being suspended...

I felt to finish seventh we needed to win today then win all our remaining home games. Now we need to win all our home games and get a result at Everton, United or Liverpool. Hmm.

Still, I'd have settled for mid-table obscurity a few weeks ago.

in my fantasy world predictor, we get 7th with 53 points, Fulham get 8th with 49 points.
Boro and Sunderland join WestBrom for the drop.

Just did the predictor. Have us ending with 51, losing to Everton and Liverpool. Personally I can't see us losing to anyone other than those two.
