Dear Mr. Sigurdsson,

I’m not just saying this but, seriously, you were a fave player of mine and I was disappointed when we sold you. My boys and I always used to shout “Siggi” for you in our ridiculous mock-Icelandic accents. I’m glad that your career has continued successfully since you rejoined Swansea. Some great goals this year by the way.

Now, what I want to talk about is your match this weekend against Leicester. Back in December you lost 0-3 to them in what I think was Garry Monk’s last game. You Swans were all short of confidence and cohesion at the time. Mahrez scored a hatrick.
Please tell your teammates it’s time for revenge. A draw will do, although a victory for Swansea would be better. You are no mugs under Mr. Guidolin. You have some pretty decent players as you demonstrated at WHL recently, plus a couple of very good ones, including Ashley Williams and yourself. As Flappy-Handski showed against us, he was unfairly under-rated at Arsenal.

So, Gilfi, please be assured your old Spurs friends will all be rooting for you (and Kyle too, if he plays). As you bend one of those trademark free-kicks past Schmeichel, I promise that my boys and I will be screaming out “Siggi” !

Sincerely,

@minesadouble

Arsenal have 60 points with 5 games to play. Their run in is easy, apart from away to Man C. They are not playing well, so you could be right, but they will really be trying to still finish above us so I wouldn't count on them losing that game. I think they could end up with 75 points, so I think we need to win 2 and draw 1 to guarantee finishing above them.

In the same vein, we are on 68 and are looking like we will beat our highest points total in the premiership. In 1984/5 we won 23 and drew 8 which would be 77 points. We can beat that total and get 80 points if we win all of our games. I think that will win the title as I think Leicester will drop more points yet and after last night's game we can all see that the players are all up for the challenge.

COYS!
Don't forget the 84-85 season will have had 42 matches instead of 38.

Well, if Lollerpool win the EL and Man C win the CL then no, we would have to get 3rd place for CL. However, as Arsenal have to play away at Man C it complicates matters a bit. I think we need to get 73 points to guarantee finishing above 4th place and hope our GD holds up.
Nah the three points next week guarantees finishing above United. Therefore if City finish outside the top 4, we'll be at least 3rd.

so newcastle and city tonight - I am thinking a draw is the best result for us.

Gives city a point so they won't fall out of the top 4 (in case they win the CL and all that), but still gives Man U some small hope, keeping them honest for their game with leicester.

Don't want a newcastle win as that might mean they could still be fighting for their lives on the last day, presume it's better for us if they are already relegated when we play them.
This isn't a factor for us. See my above post.

Still waiting for Leicester to lose a game though aren't we? That's why I'm still reeling from that stupid last minute peno against West ham.

They need to lose a game. It doesn't happen a lot. If we accept they're not gonna draw more than two of they're last four games then someone has to beat them.

I see Utd as the only team capable of it to be honest. Chelsea WILL roll over.

if they draw their next 3 and we win our next 4, it won't matter what they do on the final day.

we just gotta keep winning and hope they don't win any of their next 3

I might be clutching at straws here but both Leicester's kit and ground is very similar to Cardiff's so it will kind of feel like a derby to Swansea and they'll put in that extra effort maybe.

vardy is by far the most important player for leicester simply because he is incredibly fast, anticipation to time his run is perfect and very very clinical.

leicester city's game plan is sit everyone 1 back, drag the opponent defensive line out so theres acres of space behind, hang vardy around the shoulder of the slower centre back, one ball up.

its basically what chelsea does when they had drogba , 3-0 up, because strikers like them can single handedly best the defense. for drogba was strength and power, for vardy is pace.

without that outlet will require the team to build up play from the midfield, something they are still good at, mind you, especially those mahrez 1 2, but its definitely not their most lethal game plan.

i dont think swansea will beat them, but i can definitely see a draw. one more draw and we will be right behind them.

with manu having to chase top 4, that would be our greatest chance to pip them to the title

Also Swans don't like foxes so they might fight a bit harder.

Last week Leicester would have looked at the Swansea game thinking "beat Swansea and Spurs must win every one of their last four games" now they'll be thinking "Spurs are going to win their last four games so we must beat Swansea" that's a hell of a turn round, all the pressure is on them.

1. English press loves a fairyale, but they're salivating at the prospect of a fall from grace. Fairy tales don't sell papers, shit does. Vardy suspended, West Ham Chairman and family left after threats from fans, Leicester Director of Football confronted Moss in the tunnel, and then fans were throwing items at the linesman. The criticism will grow this week.

2. Our last two dominating wins will be the only question Leicester players and Ranieri get this week. Spurs are coming, Spurs are coming. We've sent a message that they can expect us to win every match from here on out. The pressure is on.

3. Leicester have gotten to play with almost zero adversity this season. Their schedule has been easy without Europe and with early cup exits. They've had almost no injuries, and Vardy will miss his FIRST league match this weekend. I think Vardy, even when not scoring is a huge threat. The way they play forces back lines to respect the long ball and that gives Mahrez and Okazaki more room to work. Swansea and United will not be easy matches.

My biggest concern is that they face a struggling Everton and a Chelsea squad with nothing to play for.

Can't find any links confirming it, but heard on talksport earlier that apparently a drink was thrown over Moss in the tunnel and he was confronted by a Leicester player and a member of the coaching staff. Mossgate is gonna rumble on I think.

And there was a brilliant analysis by Jamie Carragher earlier that actually showed Moss had a very good game and every decision he made was valid, the Carrol penalty seen from Moss's point of view is particularly revealing, and given he'd repeatedly warned them, West Ham's penalty was perfectly reasonable to give, especially when you see Moss's view of it.

I'd love it Vardy threw the drink and was banned for the rest of the season.

Random question but I'm sure the answer is probably "no"

But if we won the title would andros townsend get a winners medal considering he was a 1St team squad player for half the season as well as contributing to a win if I recall

Probably not, but if he did, you'd be sure Terry would be hanging around in a Spurs kit.

I think the club get a set amount, 40 odd I think, and leave it to the club to distribute as they see fit. The old rule of having to play x amount of games doesn't apply any more. So the answer is: quite possibly, if Poch felt he deserved it.

Players are required to have made 10 appearances in a club's first team to qualify for a medal. Clubs must submit an application for additional medals to be awarded to players who have not reached this tally.

Provided he scored the obligatory own goal in the last game I'd give him one.
