The amount of player turnover required isn't going to happen in this finacial environment. No DOF could make that happen in 1 or 2 windows.

Whoever the DOF is, he better be of one mind with the manager who better be a magician when it comes to player development since we will be keeping a bunch of them.

That seems to be the only way to salvage this less than tenable position. Others said it, this is the one of the most pivotal summers in Spurs recent history.

They’ll still bring in their key targets regardless. If we’re waiting to bring in the GK, key CB and Maddison before selling then we’re truly lost.
Well we don't have a head coach or DOF, and who knows how long that will take. Should we really be bringing in a GK, a key CB and Madison before the two head men anyway? Doing shit like this is why we are in this squad bloated mess in the first place.

Fan engagement - bring players in regardless and the majority get excited and don’t really pay attention to everything.

Porro signing was ridiculous for this, not him as a player but that much money on a position that really didn’t address much of the issues on the pitch

Reality is we'll have to sell the ones that other clubs would actually want. Kane, Son, Hugo, Bentancur, Kulu etc etc. That will leave us with a mid table level squad, but hey... The sooner the board come to terms with that, never mind the supporters, the sooner this reset can begin.

We've got plenty of players who should be surplus to requirements that other clubs would want. Sanchez, Dier, Perisic, PEH, GLC, Winks would have no issues finding another club. The issue is that Levy would have to accept a low fee, and the players would probably have to accept a career step-down and a paycut.

My opinion is that yes it creates new problems but it serves to further illustrate the mistakes that those in power have been making. It's their problem not ours and I think what part is in the fan's court is to realise that thing's have to get worse before they get better.

Yes I'd love it to be resolved this summer and that this moment be the rock bottom before we bounce back up but I think being aware that things may actually get worse this summer would be healthy for us and we need to realise that this is necessary to get to where we want to eventually. I think avoidance of the reality that we have to suffer for a bit before things get better is what has got us to this position.

We could have suffered some short term pain after that Champions League final of 1 season but our demand not to and the quick fix led to it lasting 4 years instead of 1. We could have suffered the pain of Nuno for a season to lay some foundations for the squad we were building with Gil, Sarr signings but we couldn't handle 5 minutes and we went to the quick fix, we compounded the issue. We're gonna have to suffer the reality of the situation we've put ourselves in. Personally I don't think Levy nor the louder voices of our fanbase (social media not this forum) can handle it and we will try and find the quick solve which might offer temporary respite only to see us back here again, to me that would be represented by Enrique but we shall see. I hope I'm wrong.

Moura is out of contract and clearly leaving. Danjuma, Kulusevski and Lenglet's buy options are due this summer. Hopefully we just buy Kulusevski and release the other 2.

Kane, Dier, Sanchez, Perisic, Lloris and Forster's contracts all expire next summer. For this season we should only be looking to keep Kane and Forster.

Without Europe we can have a slightly smaller squad for this season. We really need to let a significant amount of players go this summer.

Didn't address the issues? Most hated Emerson, Spence wasn't going to be given minutes and Doherty wasn't up to it. We needed a proper RWB and in recent games he has shown going forward what a proper attacking fullback can do.

Also why bring in players before a manager? So we can have more Spence situations where the manager doesn't want to use someone he didn't ask for?

DOF or manager first, then the other then player business. That's how it should be.

How many fancy playing at Luton? Prem league, don’t have to move house etc…

They will need to buy to stay up.

Indeed but they don't operate how we do. It really isn't worth trying to draw comparisons. We are just going to have to hope it works out.
That's the pertinent point though - this brings into sharp focus how utterly incompetent we have been with recruitment and that Levy must facilitate real tangible change operationally or we risk suffering the consequences of continuing to be mis-managed and the inevitable slide down the table.

Scott Munn will either be the cultural breath of life this club desperately needs or, and what many suspect, he'll be firmly at the leash of Levy and resembles nothing more than a puppet/mouthpiece for the board to conveniently hide behind should things head South.

The reality is Kane leaves, Spurs appoint Rogers or Potter and we do a Leicester next season and get relegated. Only then will the fans turn on Levy in droves. In the meantime we can all enjoy the magic roundabout of hope followed by disappointment.

Last time I felt this disconnected from Spurs was the latter part of the Sugar term. The only way we get out of this is utilise the fan communication channels and protest with larger numbers outside of the stadium.

Genuine question because i dont know but do the profits from the concerts and other sporting events go into the club coffers to be spent on the football team or do they go to a seperate holding company or some such to go to the company that owns the football team to use (keep) as they see fit? Because the football team via fans, tv etc pays for it all

I think a key factor in how this plays out is whether or not Levy/the board still believe we have ‘a talented squad’ and will expect the new coach to work with most of it.

If there is recognition that our squad is unbalanced and needs surgery regardless of the talents of individual players then it will be very hard to do everything needed this summer but we can probably make some solid progress.

If they think it’s just a ‘manager problem’ and the squad is fine then we’re in big trouble.

I guess we’ll find out in the next month or so - assuming we can get a DoF and Head Coach appointed in that timeframe.

Tanganga, Ndombele, Dier, Sessengnon, Winks, Lloris and Perisic should all just be released instantly. Sanchez aswell without any interest.

Porro signing didn't make sense unless you expected Conte to be there for the long haul. Porro was forcing you to go down the 3 at the back route.

The problem is, by January when we signed porro, it seemed clear Conte didn't intend to stay after this season imo

Levy wont but reaslistically to shift the players we will need to chuck in a wage contribution for them to go. The problem is the system is basically broken, the financially dopped clubs have pushed the wages so much that you cant sell on a player, for them its fine, write it off, let them go for free. Moving forwards we shouldnt pay wages markedly above what a top european side can pay and if we miss out on a player then we do or we accept that its a sunk cost. Cant have both

I agree with most that we need a major squad overhaul. Really should be trimming 20-ish players over the next three windows (if we were playing FM we'd do it all this summer but just not realistic).

I don't subscribe to the belief that being out of Europe will be good or even good for the overhaul. I think it certainly could be a positive if it serves as a wake-up call to the board that the squad isn't up to standards and the decisionsover the last five years have been poor

What I fear is more likely is that it means less money / attractiveness for new recruits and less spots for a larger squad. That in turn will mean fewer incomings and next year's squad will look a lot more like this year's squad as we try to make do with what we have. So, if this is what happens then being out of Europe isn't the reset that many people want but a hindrance to reshaping the squad. It also probably means a frustrating summer of late business as we wait to see how many we can move on before bringing in new players.

Fans really have their heads in the sand if they think we are going to get good value from all our trash and its not bloated to fuck.

The facts are in the last 5 seasons each summer we have sold players for these amounts.

Summer 2022 - 38m
Summer 2021 - 31m
Summer 2020 - 13m
Summer 2019 - 64m (including Eriksen to Inter in the winter)
Summer 2018 - 0

It's atrocious performance. I don't understand where people think coming of our worst season for a decade teams are going to start clamoring over themselves to buy our shit players.

Our net spend is 450m in the last 5 years and our wage bill has gone through the roof, Levy will not like the latter the most. Maybe Levy will keep going but my sense is that we are going to be shifting out a lot of shit for no money and that won't create conditions for this ownership to pump in another 150m, that they are probably upset at wasting last summer.
