Today is Luka Modric out day. Despite his behavior for a few weeks I will choose to remember his performance for 4 years. Good Luck mate

Have found him a bit of a WUM to be fair

just kidding ;) completely agree and probably the best (Spurs) player I've seen at WHL. Shame the way he has gone about it but can't begrudge players being tempted by Real, arguably the biggest team in the world.

Danny L, over to you!

I would found a €35million offer surprising, especially when you consider that RVP has gone to Man Utd for less and Juve also been making bids of €17million and offering Llorente really low wages(35kp/w)

Agree, makes no sense that Llorente is worth more than Van Persie.

He signed a 5 year contract in June and said he hopes to finish his career there..

This source claims we've offered the buy-out clause and Valencia have rejected it. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of a buy-out clause to prevent the selling club from rejecting such offer?

Yeah what is the deal with release clauses? Is it Spanish clubs only they have to accept?

Isn't there something about players signing contracts with Spanish clubs that they have to have a minimum fee release clause, which is only binding on the selling club in the event of another Spanish club bidding?

I think Spanish buyout clauses are slightly odd in that only Spanish clubs or player themselves can trigger them, thus if we wanted him and wanted to come, we could give him the money to buy himself out of his contract but it would cost us millions more due to the tax he would have to pay.

This reminds me of 2 years ago when we bid for Llorente, Rossi and Aguero. Went to bed thinking, "one of them will sign" happy days. The rest is history.

Buy-out clauses aren't binding to clubs outside of Iberia - only in those two countries do they have legal status.
