I think VdV's days at the Lane are numbered.
From Levy's point of view there's a decent profit to be made from a player who's age means his value will only depreciate and who is almost certainly one of the higher wage earners at our club.
From AVB's point of view he doesn't fit the system he wants to play. As has been pointed out previously VdV doesn't have the pace or the stamina for AVB's preferred system and while he will work hard he's not effective at regaining possession and will concede more and more free kicks as he tires. In addition we have a younger version of VdV in Gylfi who while not having VdV's skills is equally as good a goal threat and has better stamina. Both however lack pace and I can only see an AVB team accomodating one of them. In addition VdV isn't going to be happy playing supersub for Gylfi and has a strong enough personality that if he became unhappy it would almost certainly affect the dressing room.
It's a shame as VdV is a great player but he's also a square peg and AVB only has round holes. As a fan i'll be sorry to see VDV go but AVB has clearly got a plan and he has to be given a chance to implement it with players of his choosing otherwise it will be a repeat of the debacle at Chelsea.
