I think the one thing that could really make a difference for Onomah, and also make us a more unpredictable team is if Poch could add the 433 format to his tactical smorgasbord. We can now oscillate quite well between 3421 and 4231, but the 433 is the format that could give us and some of the players we have a different dimension, it works well with the press as you can overload forward areas but is also quite a robust and flexible formation as you have that extra man in midfield. It still lends itself to attacking FB's, you can easily accommodate a Winks or (and) Onomah in there because you'd have Wanyama anchoring the central position.

The problem with the 433 with Wanyama anchoring the middle is that with the full backs moving up Wanyama drops inside as a 3rd CB and you end up with a 3 4 3 but instead with Winks and Onomah holding the middle.

I'm no expert on the Youth but I wouldn't feel so comfortable with that type of situation happening in the transition against us.

Also I can see why Poch isn't one of these managers that puts on a youth player in the last 10 of a 4-0 win. What will a player learn in that. The opposition is defeated and rarely press, there's far less intensity in our play, I would go so far to say that it teaches complacency and bad habits.
When Winks was making a breakthrough Poch would repeatedly put him on in tight matches, I believe because it developed the player mentally. Every pass and move was with purpose and was important, there was no safety net. Winks excelled under the pressure and became trusted.

Yes it gives minutes to players but 10 or 20 mins in a 4-0 thrashing doesn't teach an awful lot.

losing 1-0 at ht.

same story with the u23s, dominate play but lack the quality in the final third and then concede.

We were better but concede from long shot.

-I like Austin. he looks comfortable with his feet
-I like the idea of playing Ogilvie at CB. Give him a CB run for U23 next year. Maybe he can be our left CB back up in the future.
-Shashoua looks okay but i think he should release the ball quicker.
- I don't like Harrison's run for space today. I think he lacks of confidence at the moment.

brown plays tracey in, he dithers but manages to pull back for shashoua who slots into the bottom corner.

somehow we lost 3-2

three quality goals from them in fairness but we had more than enough chances to have won comfortably.

Well that's been our youth results in a nutshell for some time now.

Not too worried about it though so long as we keep producing footballers though. Development > results and all that.

How did Shashoua do?

struggled 1st half, never really involved and when he did get on the ball he was forcing it a little. 2nd half a lot better, we were rampant for about 10-15 mins and he was at the centre of it but then for some reason we took him off for loft and our momentum died from there.
