Well poch clearly doesn't think that ,he's had 3 years to judge him and obviously believes winks is ahead of him.But then poch thought mason was good enough for over 2 years .Still maintain its over 30 appearances and honestly can't remember a single moment he's made me go wow.He does have a huge physical advantage in these games.Honestly before this tournament id more or less written him off.But there's no denying he was class.Lets hope this season he shows some of that in 1st xi

The only issue I could see Poch having with Onomah is that at youth level a slack touch/control isn't a problem because he has the physicality to just brush the opponents off him (much like Dembele does) but at senior level most players are physically more developed. I could, just about, see that Poch would want him to tighten up that part of his game.

That said, you only get better by playing a better opponent, and the rest of his game looks pretty much ready. I will be really, really disappointed if we bring in another physical centre mid and Josh doesn't get a chance to play there. There is space for a playmaker in our midfield, but with Dier, Wanyama, Dembele and then Josh, I don't think we need another physical player there..

Not many players are more physically imposing than Wanyama & Dembele. Fortunately, Onomah goes up against them everyday in training so he'll be fine with the other cm's in the league.

Maybe he struggles against them there which is why Poch hasn't fully trusted him in cm yet. I could be wrong but I think he did play cm v Liverpool in the league cup and don't remember him having a great game.

Winks & Carroll played CM, Dier played DM and Onomah was on the RW.

If Onomah can start to fulfil some of his huge potential this season and get a number of games, it's not beyond the realm of possibility to play himself into the England squad. He and Winks should realistically be aiming to be on the plane next summer given the shocking lack of depth in the middle of the park for the national team.

This all day long. Should be all the incentive they need to push on.

Winks would have probably made this squad without his freak injury, as he's already shown the character and ability for the PL.

Not with the U21 tournament coming up. Suspect they'd have seen greater value letting him go to that.

The central midfield positions are completely up for grabs as Wheelchair is always injured, Jordan Henderson is average and Jake Livermore isn't good enough for a top 6 side.

If England don't have a better option than Onomah for the centre if the park they are in big big trouble. He has great potential but nowhere near ready.

If there are any more international friendlies (before the WC), Southgate should try out Davies (Everton) by giving him some minutes on the pitch.

Also if Marcus Edwards is everything we think he is ,not impossible he could make World Cup squad will be 19 by then .Dele went from nowhere to an automatic choice in a year ,so not impossible .

Has next seasons intake of 1st year academy graduates been announced yet?

If yes, does anyone have a list of their names? Playing positions? Brief write up of their potential?

The first official confirmation will be when their profiles appear on the website, maybe a pre-season friendly or tournament might give us a few clues.

Jubril Okedina: Gangly centre back, rated apparently

Rayan Clarke: Tricky winger, mostly right sided
Maurizio Pochettino: Son of Poch, meh right sided player
Dilan Markanday: Tricky winger/Attacking midfielder
Paris Maghoma: Central midfielder, good player, Onomah-esque, England International
Maximus Tainio: Son of Teemu, Midfielder...not much known
Jamie Bowden: skillful central midfield
Armando Shashoua: Brother of Samuel, very similar player
Phoenix Patterson: Can play wide or attacking midfield, aggressive and very skillful

Did this half asleep so might be slightly out .But it's pretty astonishing .I make it about 20 players that were either youth or bought aged 20 or under .That we,be gone on to sell to EPL or major European league teams in last 5 years .I doubt any other club comes near that .Virtually the perfect moneyball .
