If we make a comment when we lose, it's seen as kneejerk, if I make a comment when we win, it's how can you comment when we've won 6-1. I accept there's no right time.

Either way I was ecstatic he scored and I am so pleased for him, just a shame I could barely see what was going on with the snow, but you could tell from his face he was ecstatic, and he has always come across as such a lovely guy. I'm buzzing for him, I would just like to think that it could lead to something more for him.
I think that is very fair regarding the general narrative on here that there is no right time to complain about youth integration. I certainly don't mean never complain but when a youth player has success I just think the desire to dunk on our policy outweighing the joy of that moment is not necessary. I suppose this thread could always be for the former and his thread the latter.

The @ScoutedFtbl twitter account have released their 3rd U23 handbook.

You can download it from their website http://scoutedftbl.com/

Two of our players are on their list (Winks and Onomah)

This is some part of Onomah's bit

Only just seen this but former Spurs U16 Malachi Peynado-Peart had his Crystal Palace scholarship terminated in January along with two others. @PalaceYouth suggests that it was by mutual consent but related to Palace not thinking he would make it.

Hope he finds a club somewhere, probably at a Bromley or Boreham Wood level.

In other U18 news Royin Omolabi, our second year defensive midfielder who has really struggled has been appearing, as of late, for Reading U18s. Could be a youth loan or we could have released him under the radar and he's signed permanently for Reading. Its not a trial.

Reo Griffiths retweeted this on Twitter:
“Not sure where you'll be after this summer but keep working hard man. You have real talent. Whether you stay at spurs or move on i hope you get first team chances to show it. Hope poch calls on you soon. Best of luck regardless!”

He’s also liked a few tweets saying he should get the chance and don’t go.

I could understand if KWP or Onomah wanted to leave due to a lack of playing time as they're like 20-21 now but Griffiths is 17 so I think he's being a bit unrealistic if he thinks he should be getting serious playing time already.

Such an odd one.

He clearly thinks he's the bollocks (judging by his social media feeds) and his stats certainly add up this year, but there are plenty of youth watchers who don't think he's anywhere near ready for first team football.

Surely that'd result in a loan though at 17, rather than leaving entirely?

It's like Sancho at City. He probably knows that first team football is unrealistic right now, but he doesn't even see the pathway. He's not getting Uefa Youth League games and he's not getting any U23 football. He sees Kaz Sterling ahead of him, and probably doesn't want to end up in that situation in two years.

Most players he'll see as his peers (other 2000s) were playing Uefa Youth League and PL2 football last season and are now either getting first team looks or clearly outgrowing U23 football already. It's not hard to understand why he probably is reluctant to stay and commit to a situation where he already feels like he's been held back.

Speaking of players leaving these shores for Germany, another example would be former Spurs U15 Denzeil Boadu who left Man City in the summer to join Dortmund. He left us for the Gooners but then rejected as scholarship and joined Man City. Now he's done the same to them.

Maybe Griffiths might think, if they're not getting game time at 20-21, I might as well leave now, if I want to stand any chance of progressing my career. Or, if he was in another league he might be getting chances to come off the bench or be playing in cups but is so far away from that here and is frustrated.

Ye the surprising thing is he's not even getting PL 2 minutes. With Sterling ahead of him then Kane there is no pathway. Plus there is no guarantee that even if you are an incredibly talented player with stats backing you up there is no guarantee you will even get a chance in the PL, like Sancho. When there is no hope no matter the situation you'll get frustrated. Onomah has only played once in his favourite position here and Edwards as played 15 minutes and is apparently not good enough what hope does Griffiths have. He should just leave, as should most of them tbh

I didn't know that he was highly rated I believe but suffered massively from injuries I imagine Dortmund are hoping to bring him back up to speed and tap into that potential. They bring out what he had in him, brilliant, if not no great loss. Then of course sell him back to the PL. Dortmund really have got their finger on the pulse and have really done their research on our academies

The difference is Onomah and KWP cant leave, Griffiths isnt necessary wanting a chance now but knows that if he signs for spurs, he wont be allowed to leave if he doesnt get an opportunity and when he does, it wont be on his terms.

I dont blame any spurs youth player choosing not sign a pro contract with us, as we havent actually done a good job with any of the youth players tbh. Winks is the only one who got a clear chance to prove himself but even that was after some frustrating seasons when people close to him told him to leave to try and find a football career

But you could argue we a good platform to getting a football career

Are we?

Chelsea hasnt had too many players come through but their main recruiting tool is, with us you will be getting a football career if you're talented

Man Utd academy has been poor but they have consistently got their players good loans and careers

Man City even now, is doing a decent job

You will get a playing career with us if you're a top prospect but even then it will take time. Players struggle to leave our club and go straight in to a team

staying with us and work hard to break into first team takes more time, but if they succeed they will be playing at top level. they would still play in championship or PL even if they are eventually sold, e.g. livermore, townsend, carroll, mason, bentaleb etc.
of course leaving us for a team with lower profile (e.g. teams in championship) is an easier way to get first team football than staying, but it does not guarantee that their future career would be successful.
we have to be careful with our youth in next two to three years as after selling a bunch of club trained players we are quite short of club trained players in our current first team (kane, rose, winks, kwp), and we need at least four for registration. if we can't keep those more talented club trained players (onomah, kwp, edwards etc.) then we will have to promote those less talented which certainly makes our squad weaker.
