I'm sure I read somewhere before that he put him on the right of midfield to get him on the pitch without the pressure of a CM role. Build his confidence and get him used to PL. RM is clearly not his long-term position so as many have said, great move to test his ability in CM and compete with some decent level Championship players.

Yes but the snippet of info said along the lines of he should 'go and prove it's his best position'... What's the alternatives?

I suspect Onomah just isn't really what Poch wants in a midfielder in the cm2, given he has never played him in his actual position - which to me seems bizarre when trying to evaluate a young player trying to make the step up. I think Poch has been hoping he can reinvent himself somewhere else on the pitch, and now we're on a new approach where seemingly Poch has been badgered and badgered about Onomah/his situation/where he should be played and eventually he's gone 'ok I'm not really convinced, but go out on loan, and if you get to play in centre mid maybe you'll prove me completely wrong'.

I remain to be convinced this is plotting a course for a brighter future for him.

Elmohamady played more at RB last season for Hull an Adomah got 11 assists for Villa, so I doubt he will be usurped by either Elmohamady nor Onomah for RW.

Bacuna played LW more than RW and only played 13 games at CM so certainly hasn't cemented it.

Personally, I think Adomah will be main RW with Elmohamady occasionally playing there and sometimes RB, I think Grealish, Lansbury and Bacuna will compete for AM and LW and Hourihane and Onomah will compete for a place next to Jedinak or Whelan in CM.

Edit: forgot to add, Bruce has a good history with loan players (Akpom, Hayden, Ramirez and Livermore). Also there CM options didn't cost much (Whelan 2m, Hourihane 3.5m, Jedinak 4.5m) and is peanuts compared to what they would get for promotion to PL.
He played RB under their manager but under Bruce he was pretty much always a RM both at hull and sunderland, they also have Hutton and De Laet, who just started training this summer

Yea it might be peanuts compared to promotion but it doesnt always work like that hence why Kane struggled to get ahead of Nugent and Wood at Leicester yet a season later was in our first team line up. Whether people like or not, players who are often loaned do face a disadvantage if a club is stacked in that position and the manager is under pressure. The wages of those players will be much higher than onomah as well.

But he did racially abuse anton Ferdinand whilst on the pitch which is pretty much the opposite of professional
He also had a go at Ledley in a match against Chelsea at WHL. Kaboul and co were going to sort him out if the ref had not intervened

Can we trust a coach who brought on Christopher Samba as a striker when he needs a goal to develop Onomah?

josh got 15 minutes as an am, he must feel right at home.

he messed up two promising attacking situations and also blazed over at the back post unmarked, though it was given as offside(looked level to me). moved to cm for the final three minutes when bruce brought on samba to play up front.

Samba as in the former Blackburn bouncer?

Why did you change your mind about loaning out Josh Onomah?

"Because every six months we need to review every single situation and Josh, after the U20 World Cup I think in his mind it was to play more and prove himself that he can play. There were a lot of rumours about his position on the pitch."

"He can play as an 8, a 6, a 7 or 10 or 11, I think that is not the problem. He needs to prove himself that he can play. It's a great opportunity for him now at Aston Villa to prove himself and prove to everyone that he is a player that can learn and improve and will be useful for Tottenham."

reckon he got a bit narked at hearing where onomah should be playing.

Here's what confuses me. Poch watches training, so does he play Onomah as an AM or Winger during those sessions? If that is the case, either Onomah is excelling during training and Poch truly feels this is where he should play.

"He's very young. It's true that to think and to give the big responsibility like Kieran, it's too much today for him," he admitted. "He's a player that needs to work with us and maybe start to play in different games but we cannot think that he is, in the case of Kieran weeks away from the team, only he can replace him.

Eh ?

i don't know either but in a separate tweet he says he asked poch if kwp is ready to play if trippier's out and the answer was no.

I really don't understand Poch's stance on this. It's not like Walker or Trippier (or most RB's in the PL right now) are flawless world class RB's. KWP has never looked like he's a disaster waiting to happen (unlike Walker often did in the early days). He defended perfectly well throughout pre season against some decent teams/players, has pace, is tenacious.

With the CB's we have, I really don't get why Poch is so terrified of having to use KWP for a few games?

If KWP, isnt used over the next few weeks if Trippier is out, then there needs to be a strong reassessment of the academy and what they do with the youth players

If we are recruiting some of the best young talent and they are some of the best in the country, the point of the academy is to get them ready for first team football, with the best ones ready for our first team

At the moment, its more down to luck and hope rather than an actual plan for the youth players. They need to reasses how we make these players ready for first team football.

It usually is down to luck. Injuries to others are often what kick start a career. Then it's up to the talent to grab his opportunity. If it's his turn and the manager decide to play Sissoko out of position ahead of him. That's when i see it as an issue
