Have a search for Onomah on Twitter right now, lots of praise from Villa fans.

"Onomah has had a top game tonight "

"Do like Josh Onomah, just needs a run of games to work on his final product #avfc "

"Not understanding comments about Onomah, the boy looks quality - creating a lot out there tonight #AVFC #UTV "

Was watching first half alongside U23 match, at HT and since full time so haven’t been paying full attention, but Onomah’s looked good to me. 7 dribbles which is Dembele levels. Has made some great surging runs forward and has created some chances too; nearly created a goal with a wonderful cross which should have been buried.

agree, was still playing too far forward for me but on the whole he did well, improved in the 2nd half too as he usually does.

Can see what they were doing - Whelan there as a stopper, Onomah and Grealish there to break forward with the loose balls - but I totally agree, he has more control playing deeper.

Onomah was better 2nd half. It’s there just needs more energy.
It's just his style. He hangs back a little and still has the athleticism to beat opponents to the ball. Rather than rush in and potentially lose a 50/50, he's able to delay for a moment, decide whether he can make it, and then either go forward and toe-poke or hang back and cover ground.

I get what your saying windy. But honestly 1st half he really was strolling around. Definitely upped tempo 2 nd half.

What's the situation with Roles these days?
Scored lots of goals from midfield last year but game time limited this season. Was likened to Dele - do you guys see a future for him at Spurs ( not withstanding fact that IG reckons all youth should leave as none will breakthrough).
That’s one I really don’t understand Roles is one of the most technically gifted players in the u23 , he certainly knows where the goal is , I can’t see why they holding him back . They seem to be doing the same with shaushoa . Spurs seem to be playing other boys over them , that are nowhere near Roles and shaushoa calibre

Typical, first Villa game for ages I hadn't bothered recording, having got fed up with Onomah not even getting off the bench, and he starts. Recored the repeat later, so will try to watch it tomorrow.

WTF has that got to do with it? I don’t think his race has been mentioned once in this thread. I can’t believe it’s on anyone’s mind.

What’s on people’s minds is that they are worried/annoyed that it seems like a really talented player from our academy seems to not be living up to his potential for whatever reason, which isn’t 100% clear. That’s beyond obvious isn’t it.
Totally agreee race has absoloutley nothing to do with it . He is a terrific little player , but he has to sort his attitude

Paris Maghoma seems to have dropped off the radar. Really thought he had promise but can’t even get a start these days for U18s.

Controversial, perhaps, but I don’t think TOB is much better at this level either.
i do not know what poch sees in him , he just doesn’t cut it for me , but having said that he was a bit better today then when I have previously seen him

2 questions:

I read so much praise for Skipp, any chance he could be fast tracked to start getting first team games and rotating with Dembele next season?

Bennetts seems to effect games constantly, is he a full back or a winger and could be push for a left back spot if Rose leaves?
