BC has been calling for a lot of these players to get games, now it seems they are, he fucks off and gets himself banned.

ValenciaYid has just posted Youth in the ITK Thread. I would rather have members of the Youth team in our squad than £15 million mediocre signings.

Or a £30+ million signing also

Hope we have a few gems coming through, a shame we list a few to other leagues.

my issue with that is, most of those who poch has with up him aren't actually good enough. people like to say that talent alone will only get you so far if you don't have the attitude/mentality to go with it but the opposite is just as true. i'd rather an average youth player play than spend £ on an average player to come in and do the same job but ultimately i don't have much enthusiasm in seeing either.

Hope Josh can get himself fit as Dier is only cm without any injury problems. Josh should get a chance in cm.

Really think Josh can impress people, most importantly the gaffer. Has every physical tool in the locker, just needs to mentally shift to ON ALL THE FUCKING TIME

Josh has a real chance. If there was ever a time for him to really push and put in the work, it's now.

Time for Onomah to step up and become the player we all know he can be. Him and Winks with AN Other in a three man midfield excites me.

Any hope that Edwards has impressed behind the scenes?

So, guys... Whose making the step up if needs be?

In my mind there are four bands of players. The absolutely ready, the maybe ready, the ready for some minutes and the not at all ready.

My version of those lists are as follows:
I'd say Walker-Peters and Onomah are absolutely ready.

The maybe ready are Edwards and CCV - god only knows if Edwards is ready or not at the moment and whether or not the club even trust him to play. Raw talent-wise though, if we were in need of someone to step up in an attacking role he's got as good a claim as anyone. CCV is someone I had high hopes for but given the position he plays I'm not sure he's quite there yet.

Then there's a bunch of players who I'd love to see get minutes this season and I'm sure could do a job for a game or two if they were surrounded by regular first-teamers, but I'm not sure would benefit from being chucked in at the deep end for a run of games or if they were in a team with too many other inexperienced players. My version of that list would include Amos, Skipp, Oakley-Boothe, Roles, Tanganga and Georgiou. Maybe Shashoua and Sterling as well.

Spurzinho posted a similar but different list a page back and his opinions on some of the players are different to mine.

Assuming everyone is fit the opportunities are still very limited. It really is only winks/Onomah fighting with dembele. Otherwise if Llorente fails again maybe sterling. But if nobody else leaves can’t see youth getting a look in. I do wonder though if they may have 2nd thoughts on Edwards. If 2 of Eriksen dele Son Lamela moura were injured he’d be a great 6th choice.

Can anyone more knowledgeable about the yoof tell me who might be ready to feature in the first team this season? Any decent forwards around? Anyone think Sterling could be good enough to play a part for us?

Well this season could be good for our youth!
The problem is, we are still overstocked in the positions where they can make a difference.

If we play 433, then Georgiou (or Edwards if he can get back in favor) has the best chance with GKN as the challenger of 4th choice wide player.

We still have 1 RB too many for KWP and Onomah, Amos, Skipp, TOB, Roles and Marsh all have Eriksen, Alli, Dier, Dembele, Winks, Wanyama and Sissoko ahead of them for 3 positions.

Also, CCV, Tangana, Eyoma and BLF have Verts, Sanchez, Toby and Foyth to displace plus Dier would probably do back before we played even Foyth.

The problem is the areas we were crying out for signings in are also our weak areas in our U23s.

We don't have a creative CM ready to make the step up (or at all), our youth strikers are probably league 1 standard and I think Georgiou will look ok but unproductive at first and then struggle. Edwards would be ideal if he turns things around but I'm not getting my Hope's up and I really like Sam Shashoua but he is probably the least likely to cope physically in the PL.

mostly agree and to be fair we have a very strong core first 16/17 or so. if we had that quality of player into the 20-25 range then the calls for youth wouldn't be as strong but it's just the likes of aurier, sissoko, llorente etc where the frustration begins to creep in. i don't know if i'd describe onomah as a creative cm but i do think he has a deceptively good passing range, he's not a short, snappy passer like winks but he has shown to have an incisive pass in his locker - like the passes in this video at 5:02 and 5:47. i hope he gets a chance this season but if the reports of us trying to palm him off to villa in the grealish deal are true then that's not particularly encouraging.

as you say with edwards he would be ideal, we have a lot of quality attacking players but they're all quality in a mostly orthodox way if that makes sense, whereas edwards just has that little something different in his game. i don't know what's happening with him and a small part of me thinks that given how heavily involved he's been for the u23s this summer that maybe not all hope is lost but then it could just mean nothing and he's currently sorting out a move. i like shashoua, i don't think he's quite edwards level as a talent but maybe he'll prove to be stronger in other areas. i saw a few pics of sam recently and he looks as though he's been hitting the weights pretty hard, it doesn't make much sense to me on any level that he's with the u23s whilst tracey and a bunch of u18s were with the first team but then again i don't see them in training.

I think we all need to accept that Edwards isn’t going to make it at Spurs. I remember last year when he got his loan move to Norwich I was incredibly excited and checked their teamsheets every week as early as possible to see if he was playing, however he never was and it was purely down to his attitude by the sounds of things.
At Spurs I compare him to KWP, if he was to have a bad game you know he’d be gutted and determined to make amends. However, if the same happened to Edwards, I genuinely don’t think he’d care and at his age, that should be already installed in him. Also I don’t think he’s bought into Spurs after all these years, I never see him talking/writing about the club or the first team which is concerning.
Yes he’s probably the only attacking youth player that could realistically make the step up but I don’t think Poch could ever trust him
