Comments about Skipp are interesting “wasted at DM”. I always thought there’s a bit of the swashbuckling Bryan Robson or Paul Ince about him. And I have to go back that far to think of a comparable midfielder, Lampard and Gerrard had a certain amount of swashbuckle about them but they didn’t have that roughness of Ince and Robson.Maybe he’s just been to cautious at senior level so far. I still think he can play DM and add those surging runs. But I would be interested to see him in a more advanced role.

I don't remember Robson or Ince, but there is a lot more to his game than breaking up play. Even Parker in his final year at West Ham could be a standard season for him. He's not like Lampard in my eyes.

He can be an excellent DM still and I think he is better than Rice, or at the very least will be if he is given chances but that's where the problem lies. He probably is being a bit cautious and adjusting to the speed of play, the lack of spaces and the physical difference. Also knows if he makes a mistake it could affect any future opportunities so I'd expect him to be cautious but in saying that, the criticism of him being sideways I have found strange as most of the time he has given the ball away is a result of a failed and over ambitious through ball.

I don't really see where he'll get his chance for the remainder of the season so I guess we hope he plays some u23s to keep developing.

yeah he's not playing well. germany have dominated but we managed to nick an equaliser.

He was but he was in a tough situation as the two CBs were in no mans land and he had a player out wide so didn’t fully get in to cover.

As overall the two cbs have been rubbish and the Cms are non existent.

Oluwayemi - Had one of his standard games. Very safe, and assured. Made a couple of important saves iirc, I'm sure he will feel he should have got a stronger hand on the goal, but it was hit well and he was at full stretch

Okedina - Had a really good game out of position at RB. I know he has been playing there quite a bit since his return from injury and I think relatively speaking he was one of the better players. I thought his passing was confident trying to pass round corners and get the ball forward and he was solid in defence. I liked him at u16 level and he is doing well this season.

Walcott - I thought Walcott looked sturdy. There were a couple of periods where our back was against the wall, and he put in some good blocks and positioned himself well

BLF - Had another standard assured game. Looked composed on the ball as usual, and generally defended well. I can't remember who it was but I know one of the CBs got caught passing out from the back, but compared to how regularly it used to happen I can excuse that

Cirkin - He started off slowly but then grew into it and had another excellent game. Knows when to attack, when to defend. He takes it all in his stride. His dribbling was good and he was one of our best players.

White - I personally don't think he had as much of an impact as he usually does, he played 2nd fiddle to Skipp somewhat but he had a good game. Controlled the midfield well and did what he usually does, in turning out of trouble and getting the ball forward. When he moved to no.10, his old position he continued to have a good game showing his versatility, especially has he has played CB more than he has AM this season. He showed his excellent weight of pass as he put Bennett through. It was a straight ball he had to play while running and it was perfectly timed. His fumbled shot also led to the 3rd goal and of course he got himself on the score sheet. Reading that back I feel I've contradicted my opening sentence, but I hope others will know what I mean. Would be interested to hear their opinions

Skipp - Excellent performance. He's always been very mature physically than his contemporaries which has no doubt helped him transition to the first team. What I loved about his performance, is the fact he arguably stepped two levels down and played as he would normally do. I'm sure the occasion helped with that. He was the Skipp I know and love and can sometimes go unnoticed. He was everywhere in defence and attack trying to make things happen. He is a very strong runner, and the opposition couldn't contain him. He was also showing his usual feints, and has imo very good vision, helping to start counter attacks and chances. The attacking side of his game is very underrated. He actually reminded me of a Gerrard lite out there with his cavalier style or like a Kante. I genuinely believe he should play more first team football and I think he will be a very good player. He will have to start of as he has, very reserved, but once he gets his confidence I hope the shackles are taken off him and he can express himself. He's too good just to be a DM in my eyes, though if he was one he'd make an excellent one.

Shashoua (c) - In order to accommodate Skipp it would be interesting to see who went to AM out of him and White as they have generally played alongside each other in CM. Shashoua was the one in no.10 and I feel he really struggled there. Nothing was coming off for him, though he found himself in excellent scoring position showing his anticipation and good instincts, but he was being muscled off the ball bu their defenders I felt when he was around the box. When he swapped with White and moved into CM, I thought he had one of his standard excellent games. Him and Skipp were a good partnership and he is excellent and finding space to join up with the attack.

Markanday - Again, I don't think he had one of his better games, but he showed glimpses of what he can do hitting the post, getting his goal, winning the pen and eventually getting his goal (which I thought he was fortunate with as he took a heavy touch). Despite not having a great game for his standards I think some would have left impressed with him, which shows just how talented he is.

Bennett - Kept trying to make things happen. Took his goal very well, however should have taken the chance created by White. I thought he was going to round the keep but opted to take it first time. He was another that had a decent game and not a great game.

Clarke -Unfortunately for him was the man sacrificed to play uptop in the absence of a fit striker. I thought he did OK trying to hold up the ball but struggled to make a real impact.

Subs

Cooper, Poch and Statham all came on and did nothing of note. Really our quality was too much for them, we were generally on top for much of the game outclassing them. There was a point where we took our foot of the gas and started to rest on our laurels to let them back in but generally dominated them, without playing too great.

@Spurzinho Glean didn't do much. They were generally on the back foot.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said here, glad someone else saw it like I did.

After the u19s missed out on qualifying for the Euros, the u17s came within a whisker of missing out too, which would have been really bad.

Fortunately we bet Denmark 3-2 and Madueke scored 2 including the winner and Geldhart picked up one.

Also Aaron Maguire has been representing Ireland u16s. According to Lilywhite Rose on twitter Josh Oluwayemi has committed his international future to Nigeria ahead of the u20 World Cup in Poland. Tobi Oluwayemi has been called up to England u16s.

And Michael Craig picked up a MOTM against Poland as Scotland drew 1-1

Thinking a year or so ahead do you see a Skipp and Winks 2 man CM?

Potentially, all depends on how much he is trusted and opportunities he is given. I wouldn't be surprised to see them two play alongside each other at some point. Whether it would be our strongest midfield at the time I don't know but I think they'd be more than capable. Strangely, if Skipp plays how he can play which I doubt, I'd expect Winks to be the holder.

Madueke's 2 goals. He also got an assist. Big shame we lost him as he is proper quality but shows the strength of the age group that they lost their best player and are still top of the league.
