Chelsea spent £125m to get Jorginho, downgrade Courtois to Kepa, and get a one-year loan for Kovacic. I have to say if we spent £125m to get rid of Lloris for some second rate keeper, get a one year deal on a Real Madrid bench player, and then pick up Jorginho (who is quality) I would give us an F rating.

They have so much depth in their squad and from their loanees that with the additional window of opportunity to buy from their squad, Willian and Hazard are not yet safe. If someone comes in for Kane we can set the price to £300m and Kane isn't going to complain that with no one to back him up, we have no other options, or that such a price is inappropriate. Chelsea have a laundry list of players that can do the job for Hazard or Willian at an adequate level.

It is all opinions mate but for me i cant see them as losers here they have done business and if they keep Hazard and Willian i certainly think they will be stronger for it.

I also highly doubt they have anyone knocking around on loan that is anywhere near the standard to be replacing Hazard he is one of the best players on the planet and if they keep him thats a success in itself.

Levy is an incredible business man and has done so much good for the club but i'm starting to wonder if he may have reached his limit in terms of how much more good he actually can achieve. New stadium, new training ground and transforming us from a mid table club to consistently fighting for top 4 is amazing but i can't see him taking us any further with his current transfer policy. The marked will change all the time but we don't have any guarantee that it will in the near future - its not like the pl teams are getting any less rich. And to be fair, i think poch should have more of the honour in us doing so good these last few years - the man is a god and have made us punch above our supposed level in terms of finances available - it would be a shame to upset him (and the squad) and loose our momentum..

We have one the highest ticket prices in the prem and should expect the club to sign players because of it (?), haven't Levy said himself that the new stadium wouldn't affect our window while giving himself a raise?

keeping all of our players is not the worst transfer window imo, but its getting even more frustrating when we didn't need that much to get to the next level. Just one good cm and a winger could have done it. Can't forget that all of our rivals has strenghtned their teams as well.. This was your chance Baldie.

Tottenham are the first PL club to make no signings in a summer window since it was introduced in 2003.

That is pretty much indefensible of a club of our current stature. We need Levy as chairman, but he needs a sporting director. If we had one this summer and ended up like this he'd be sacked 100%.

Poch may be 'fine', but he won't be buzzing either. Must be some disappointment there for sure. Will players be impressed? Doubt it, but most have a shiny new paypacket coming, and I think they will be excited by the stadium, and to be fair they know the quality they have in the ranks. Just need to hope we avoid the negative cloud that is currently forming over Old Trafford.

Toby situation will be tricky, things may be civil, but he won't be happy if constantly benched. Rose is gonna have to fight his way in due to no preseason. Poch may encounter problems here, but right now at least the depth is there.

I'm relaxed on the following conditions: Eriksen, Dele, Lloris, Dier and Vertonghen deals happen. No one is sold before January except GKN and Janssen.

Finally, if the stadium hurt us this window, just fucking tell us.

I’m glad we’re finally taking this approach.

So with Levy in charge we might never buy a player again as he has an alarming track record of not supporting his managers early enough to pay the price and get their first choices!!

All of these teams that have signed overpriced players on huge salaries &a long contracts are really going to struggle shifting them if they flop which the majority of them will do. They'll struggle with their 17 man nonHG quotas for a couple of years and it'll really damage their chances of signing class from abroad in the future when they have half a chance of signing them.

I'd have liked signings but no more Sissokos or Janssens for me. Keep your nucleus and do your best to compete with the likes of Real Madrid &a Barcelona for genuine class.

If we keep hold of certain players with 3 weeks left of the European window, tie Eriksen &a Dele down to new contracts and settle well into our new home then we'd have played a blinder when all of our rivals (financially) have pulled themselves from pillar to post. It's done, 1 or 2 should have come in but they haven't so let's just crack on with knowing we get to enjoy the best Tottenham team in a generation staying together for our first season back at our new, top class looking home

Wanted a CM, disappointed we didn't get one.

But I'd rather have no new signings than get lumbered with more Llorente, N'Koudou, Sissoko, Janssen quality players that offer very little to the squad and suck up wages and squad positions.

Hope the club go back in for Grealish in the winter when he only has 18 months left on his contract. Feel like he could be a revelation for us.

"They have done business" - why is it that just buying and selling players apparently makes their team better? If that's the case then why aren't we replacing the entire squad every summer if there's this abundance of affordable and better players than we or Chelsea or anyone else already have?

So now that our buying window is closed and 99.99% of us are really fucked off, the realisation that this is only the beginning of the end of this sorry saga.

We now have another three weeks of piss taking in the press, plus multiple stories of our players being linked with clubs across Europe.

We've had Rose today to Schalke. Thus will then be Toby to PSG/Barca/Madrid. Eriksen will definitely be linked with Spanish big boys. Certainly whist no contract extension has been announced. I'm sure others will be linked away too, but personally I don't think we can afford to lose any players now, well certainly not those listed above and including Dembele...however I'm sure some will go but I for one cannot wait the the whole window closes.

September cannot come soon enough.

My last post for a while. This current feeling of 'so close yet so far' is so common for my sport teams. I truly shouldn't care or bother or put this much time into it. I am an American, so that may discount my opinion to a lot of you, but I feel as attached to this team as all of you. I am a Jets, Knicks and Spurs supporter. All of my teams live in the shadow of the 1960's, all of them consistently invent new ways to hurt you emotionally, and most of all, all have been on the cusp of victory in some what recent times, to come up short and leave you with your head down saying, "Maybe next year". All play in major markets, all have really bizarre owners who do more harm than good in the eye of the fan but reality is all of my teams continue to increase in financial value so I guess you could argue thats a positive.

1. I have never in my entire life seen a sports organization move to a new city or stadium and fail to sign new talent for either branding purposes or for helping the overall team succeed. This is truly a first. Every team tries to do some sort of rebrand through a player and a logo. We haven't done neither. Not saying we need to necessarily do either, but in a competitive league like the Prem, where its become increasingly less top heavy since the 'Big 4' were a thing, this is truly a first. From the outside looking in, this is mind-blowing.

2. I am of the belief if you can't improve, don't waste your time and keep pushing on. I do agree with that sentiment. With that said, I wish the club would be significantly more transparent about the direction to go in. I think the games played with the media and how information is leaked costs us emotionally, and at some point it has got to effect the players and the overall team. Granted we don't know what happens behind the scenes and don't know what happens at the top, but the talent is out there and the targets are known and the messaging is always leaked from the club that they are going to commit to building this team bigger and better. I am baffled that the messaging continues to be the same, and the result feels the same. My example of the media effecting it: some player wants more, some player says "get someone you don't have to google", some player complains about wages -- it absolutely sends a message that effects the fans, inherently effecting the brand and image.

3. Levy. God. Where do I begin? I can understand how good of a business man he is. He is the type of guy you want a company to be run by as he will figure out a way to increase profit margins and increase stock value, reduce costs and promote talent from within. The flip side: most sport organizations are owned for either parking investment money for spending or for ego or tax rebates. I am amazed how he treats this like a business as much as he does, regardless of how over budget a stadium build may be or if we are in a recession. Fun fact: most sports teams operate in a MAJOR deficit. He treats this club as if they are a small market team. I think only the Pittsburgh Pirates are the only team that comes to mind that operates with a similar margin, and they are a small market team that has been irrelevant since the 70s and don't resemble the modern sports world of big money. Last summer, Levy moved a lot of bodies amazingly and it was one of the best windows I saw from a selling perspective. He has done some good business over time: Jan, Toby, Dele, Lucas, Berba, the flipping and buying of Keane and Defoe, VDV (although this looks like a one off now), Hugo, Modric, Scotty Parker (the redknapp special), Eriksen, and a few more. But how much of that is scouting? There are equal crap signings like Bentley, Bent, Pav, The War of Frazier Campbell, Chiriches, etc. While this may fall on the sporting director, the reality is that the money spent has never and doesn't ever seem to be like the ones of the biggest clubs in England, and even more so than Europe. We look for youth and bargains. Its just the fact we all know and can't deny. Whether its Levy or Joe Lewis or ENIC, something has got to give. We hear time and time again about 150m, or a war chest, or overdraft, and I don't doubt that the info is coming from a factual plce because I trust the ITK here. However, something isn't adding up. It always seems to come down to penny-pinching here and there, with bullshit negotiating tactics. The teams that win have all spent money to get there, and don't do it cruely. For fcuk sake, we are known for having the Chairman that fucks around. Is that good for selling players? Yes and that may be a positive. But Karma is real. Karma has bitten us before and it did this summer.

4. The ITK this window has been great and free flowing, but I think I need to take a step back and check myself in the mirror and learn how to remove myself. The amount of irrational emotional attachment is bizarre for a 28 year-old man with a steady job and a life. I admit, I am the sick fcuk here.

5. I won't stop supporting Spurs and won't stop loving our club and hope we dominate. I really do. Thats being a fan, and the hope is what keeps you around. But I believe Spurs management deserve a kick in the ass for the way this has been handled and if that comes at a harsh price, then so be it. Regardless of what the team thinks and manager thinks, this is a BAD PR move. Period. Everything, especially the way the media construes things, will be tied back to this one way or another. I know I'll get spammed, 'wtf' for this and a lot of negative reactions, but I am starting to prepare for life without Pochettino. Unless Madrid wind up doing something miraculous with Lopetegui, which as a managerial hiring reeks as the bottom last resort, I am having a really hard time telling myself Poch won't be there next year or PSG (if Tuchel doesn't work out). Positive, I don't see Poch going to another club in England unless something really bad happens between the board and him. I just don't see it. However, this window reeks of stale gum over chewed for too long. Like any other profession, the time comes where you have to move on to bigger and better things. We got 5 great years out of this experience and I couldn't be happier about it, but the reality is, bar us winning a title or two, the winds of change have got to be near. With a manager so connected to the players, you gotta imagine the ripple effect will be big when it happens. So yes, I may get negative feedback for this, and may get screamed at, but I am preparing myself as a way of addressing bullet number 4.

6. As always @Archibald&Crooks and @Rob, I work in the technology space. The website functioned flawlessly for the first window and handled a ton of users. Thank you for making this the mad house it is. @Hercules @rebrab @The Journalist @Gyid @Breezer @Trix @The Goat and anyone else I am missing, thank you all for keeping us entertained for the past few months. Granted, this is a shit show for everyone in some respect. You guys gave us something to do with our lives and probably also caused a divorce or two. Having said that, thanks for always making our summers interesting.

EDIT: One last fleeting thought I had. We had one actual important signing: Pochettino. The unfortunate part is that this whole situation of Mauricio feels A LOT like Modric. Poch may keep more hush to the public, but he will be in Madrid this time next year. Its hard to not see the writing on the wall.

CM is our biggest problem. In fact, I think we have the worst CM from the top 6 teams. Dembele is literally one major injury from never playing top football again, Wanyama is broken, Winks haven't been match fit for months, Dier cant play in the midfield and... Sissoko.
Personally, I am extremely pessimistic, can't see us even in top 4 fight. :(

£60m in profit last season.
That ignores the debt the club has taken on which is massive.

The debt is financed by loans and so has 0 effect on profit / loss even as our financial situation beckoned less stable ..

My 2 pennies worth

The naming rights deal falling through put Levy on the back foot.

From then on in we were only going to sign players if we shifted Toby, Rose, Demebele, Sissoko.

No offers came through. Therefore we did nothin g

The club wont admit it, but we are skint.

Urgh. Now anxious about the future

Poch was acting very odd in the last games of last season. There was that change in his tone. He then did that “being brave” in the transfer market press conference

Despite any spin we will receive over the next few days I do not believe what has happened is what he wanted

He is a fantastic character, he will do his best for us this season, and when it finishes why should he believe a single thing that Levy says to him about the future. He will get tempting offers and I think he will take one of them.
