Thks D75 - yes that was a low attendance for a chance of a great Stadium visit ... to be honest I would have gone with the wife had we lived nearer to London. Was a beatiful day - maybe 12 am KO was too early !
Like you, I would have gone if I lived near. However, we know this team is ok but never gonna get you too excited and the performance was as expected. As such I feel the crowd was very good for a 12 o'clock kick off against an almost relegated Leicester.Thks D75 - yes that was a low attendance for a chance of a great Stadium visit ... to be honest I would have gone with the wife had we lived nearer to London. Thks spoddams .. I would never block you .. don't know how to anyhow. If I have please let me know and I will look into it and get it unblocked (again if I knew how)Brief bit (and weird, Delboy spurs are you replying to yourself or has someone blocked me? could be possible I guess, haha) - I enjoyed the game, we were sat in front of a group who had a guy who was great at getting the crowd going - including the two young kids in front of us. I'll say it again, but we need songs. If we had songs for our players I think there'd be more noise - although it was a fairly noisy game than at The Hive.
It felt like yet again we couldn't finish, though we had plenty of action in their goal - it was like it wasn't going to happen for a while, frustrating.
I'm delighted with where we've finished, and hopefully with more strengthening we'll challenge the dominant teams (I'm not including Manchester United in there). It was a good game, good attendance and watching the end of season awards took me back to happy times watching it with the men's - though apparently there are loads of people pressuring the women asking for shirts, shorts, boots... (and they're earning a fraction of what the men earn, not all will have sponsorship deals, it's kind of odd... I wouldn't - besides, smelly feet).
Anyway, found this blog recently, my head is too tired to think straight and offer any insightful thoughts (though it could be said I don't do that anyway!!) https://spurswomen.uk/blog/
Do they have contracts at Birmingham level? the only evidence of that I remember was an article focusing on wages 2 seasons ago when we were newly promoted.Thks for the blog spoddams .. I have saved that off for extra reading. They covered the Arsenal report very well and highlighted the difference between them and us. It is not right though that THFC has contracts in the region of relegated Birmingham .. almost a disgrace to read that and hope that has been sorted out by now - so so much is kept off the media and hard to know unless players themselves spill the beans and embarrass the decision-makers. What 8-10 Mill would do for this team would be groundbreaking and that should be offered from the back pockets of Levy and Lewis just for the brand advertisement alonge
Never upset, it's just a bit deluded and negative constantly. You seem to hate everything about the team and happily dismiss good stuff like the manager, because you expected more (unrealistic aims).Thks Ben for the red crosses ... I've obviously upset you again.
I wouldn't be surprised if Delboy does talk to himself a lot cos there's not many that come on this thread!Brief bit (and weird, Delboy spurs are you replying to yourself or has someone blocked me? could be possible I guess, haha)
Cracking shout. I know it's unlikely but having Parris and White upfront with a couple of creative additions would transform the team. As Ben says we probably need 6 additions to the squad but 2 or 3 of the Parris/White quality would immediately improve our firepower - the area we all realize we need to improve significantly. If we're going to sign players from Arsenal we should try and sign Nikita Parris who can't be happy playing 5-10 mins at the end of games here and there. She would immediately be a starter for us, maybe we could also go for Ellen White who seems to have lost her starting spot to Shaw. But we probably don't pay anywhere near the wages of what city pay. Got no idea how the transfers work in the wsl tbh. But a few good attackers could really transform the team.
It was mentioned in the blog report that spoddams shared so they must have got it from somewhere Ben (these reporters always do report on the warts if they find any) ... you obviously know more than me thats for sure .. I get the impression you are maybe closer to the team/club then u make out.Do they have contracts at Birmingham level? the only evidence of that I remember was an article focusing on wages 2 seasons ago when we were newly promoted.
I get the feeing that they are paid what they are worth. I have always been astonished at how poor some players are at shooting and that's in the mens game. As professionals I'd hope they'd have the dedication of a Son/Kane type and do extra time to improve poor aspects of their game.It was mentioned in the blog report that spoddams shared so they must have got it from somewhere Ben (these reporters always do report on the warts if they find any) ... you obviously know more than me thats for sure .. You are very knowlegeable and even though we maybe dont see eye to eye I do respect your comments and learn much from them.
100% agree - When you watch the training vid's - very little is shown on target shooting bar the small goal games (accept they are only a snapshot). Maybe Kane and Son should be asked to come give them a morning session every week next season. There was also so much poor passing on Sunday and some passes were often in panic mode and hit far too hard and often behind the running player and that also needs to be worked on for next season. Still do not understand why she did not use the fresh players for the last 15 minutes even if there was a risk of losing a goal - we may actually have done better. Also where was Simon and Schnaderbeck ? (more injuries?).... I saw Simon in a tracksuit but not on the list!I get the feeing that they are paid what they are worth. The most frustrating thing about the Women's team has been the quality of their shooting. I really can't believe that they spend enough time on it and I find it hard to believe that they are unable to improve.
I guess we need to pay more to get better players, but it would be nice to see someone we already have improve their finishing.
I thought that Simon came off at half time against Arsenal for tactical or fatigue reasons. However, she must have picked up an injury in order to miss the final game. Schnaderbeck was in the initial team list but must have had a problem pre-game.100% agree - When you watch the training vid's - very little is shown on target shooting bar the small goal games (accept they are only a snapshot). Next season will be a tough season for us and her (even with a new contract).I thought that Simon came off at half time against Arsenal for tactical or fatigue reasons. Adding fresh legs for the last 15 would have made sense and letting Lane and Tang onto the THS pitch would have been a nice gesture. However, RS didn't think that way for whatever reason.
It will be interesting to see how RS develops the team. Ben appears confident in her ability but I remain on the fence. The team has generally struggled in the last third since xmas (14 goals in 15 games with 4 coming in one game) and we can all see the problems upfront. I hope that we'll look more likely to score next season and RS finds 2/3 players who can hit the ball hard and accurately.
