I'd say if we go to one striker it would be in a 4-3-3. I don't think we go to 4-2-3-1.

With the exception of Keane, we are very well suited to go to a 4-3-3. Which of our players would not be perfectly suited for a spot in such a formation? How many times on this forum have we said that our midfielders would be great if only they played in a 4-3-3 so their strengths would be apparent, and they could mask each others weaknesses? Gio has always played in a 4-3-3, and Bent (I'm pretty sure) has as well, and both played well in them. Obviously, I think that whatever we are trying to do will become more apparent as we see exits and entries, but I suspect that we will see some attacking 4-3-3 this year.

I'd be curious to see Berbatov up front alone with good attacking options around him. His ability to hold the ball up and bring the others into play would be sublime. But I have a feeling we'll want to play counter attacking football, which is more suited for a striker with pace leading the line alone like Bent or Eto'o. I agree a 4-3-3 might not be a terrible choice. A Zokora/Jenas/Hudd midfield would be great with Modric and Gio supporting the lone striker.

Also for those who have Veloso in their sights. He's going to cost 23-25m probably. I don't think we have that kind of cash to splash. Maybe if we get rid of Berbatov still, but who knows.
