More likely to go towards the stadium imo. Hopefully bullshit though, We will be fucked if he is allowed to leave this summer.

I'm not so sure.

I think most would agree that we've got around 15m available at this time (it seems to have been thrown around a few times to targets).

Should we sell Bale for 80-85m, that's around 100 million, should that money be paid up-front, available to be spent in the transfer market.

We could add 5-6 quality/impact players to bolster the squad on the whole.

Any other players that will be sold (Huddlestone, Parker, Livermore, BAE, etc.) could go right into the stadium funding which would possibly be around 25-30m in the end. To me, that's a good chunk of money that realistically can go to the stadium while still using the larger sum of money on keeping this squad competitive.

I'd sell him for £80 mill +. However good he is, he's not Ronaldo. And there's every chance that if he stays with us next year he won't reproduce his exploits from the previous season on quite the same scale. In which case his value would drop to something more realistic, say £40mill or so.

MS1980 posted this on coys
Just bumped into Adebayor
Just went through security with him at terminal 5.
he said he will be at spurs next season,
he said he thinks Bales staying.
I said he better score more goals next season and he said he always does his best.
Point of note to everyone. if you see a premiership footballer in front of you at airport security take a different queue, thought i was going to miss my flight waiting for him and his mates to take their jewellery off and get their louis vuiton through the scanner.
seemed like a nice bloke though.

he posted a pic of himself with ade as well

So, not one of the 'ten' then. Don't suppose you asked him exactly how long he's going for this time?

We don't have the business model to possibly turn down a gigantic bid for Bale and that fundamentally a significant proportion of the proceeds will be allocated to the stadium.

Levy won't let him go for less than £100m imo. Call me naive, but if the bidder is already at £80m+ then why wouldn't we hold out for a lot more?

That said, I don't particularly believe it anyway.

If Bale is sold for said amounts there's no way we will spend all of the money on new players, I will b staggered if the club goes out and spunks upwards of 100mil, it wouldn't happen, just not the clubs style. Would be nice but I really cant see it happening. More to the point hopefully Bale stays.

BIDDING WAR!!! Lets see just how far these mad sheiks, oligarchs and Spaniards will go. £120m might just persuade me:whistle:

Probably bollocks though.

Because maybe we're prepared to pay the release clause and then City, Chelsea etc etc come along and offer a bit more and take the player?

It wouldn't really make sense though, would it? If we are willing to pay the release clause, all the money in the world paid by Chelsea would not make any difference, as we would have an automatic availability to the player. Any pound paid beyond the clause is just plain retarded (and will never happen, ofc).

The Real Madrid Presidential elections are just over, its most likely just PR rubbish from Perez. No different to politicians outlining their policies running up to a general election with little intent to actually implement them.

I would wager all this had more to do with political smoke screening and trying to get votes than actually signing Bale.

Can't be Real Madrid as they are not silly enough to open up with a world record bid. Must be Monaco or similar.

Surely there comes a time where the amount offered doesn't matter, its the principle and message that it sends out that's telling. I am just sick and tired of these big clubs coming and taking our best players like vultures. Everytime we get close to building a really top side the same thing happens, and as a result we have to go through another season of transition and rebuilding. Quite simply enough is enough, if we are serious about Champions League and winning trophies then we simply have to keep Bale- there no two ways about it.

He ran unopposed though......

RM always do this with players they want.....they'll continue to talk up buying Bale and go after Suarez or Cavani and get one of them to appease the fans for not signing Bale.

And then he breaks his leg.

Sorry but if there is a bid in excess of £85m we'd have to accept. I wish we were in a position that we didn't but that is too much money to turn down.

I think all of this comes down to whether we are a selling club or whether we are serious about trying to compete.
If we are just a business, Levy will take the cash on Bale and AVB and say it was too good an opportunity to miss, if he is serious about trying to break into the top 4 then this could be the season to go for it - but it cannot be done without Bale and AVB on board.

The money would no doubt improve us immeasurably IF it was put towards new signings, but realistically mate can you see it? I personally can't (not to mention how much the market value of players we were chasing would inflate IF Bale was sold, clubs would try and rip us off left, right and centre and I don't think Levy would pay what they wanted)

EDIT: you could say this about anybody: what if we signed Bales replacement for £35m and then he breaks his leg on his first training session?
