To me it points like Keane and Defoe going...and Vucinic coming in, and a promising youngster etc so...

Vucinic
VDV
Pav
Crouch

Is pretty good IMO.

It's not good enough though. WHat happens when Vucinic gets injured? We definately need another striker. As well as being injured what if he flops? We'd end up the same as last season just with less striking options! We desperately need more than one new striker. Even if its Gyan and Vucinic i'd be very happy.

It's where we should have been last season. But still not good enough to compete with Arsenal and Liverpool for the final CL spot next season.

The top two are excellent players but overall that foursome lacks pace and possibly goals too.

I think (opinion) that we will sign Vucinic in the next few days, and then spend the rest of the summer chasing a signing of Rossi/Adebayor which we would be happy to let go to the wire

totally agree with that. Replacing Defoe & Keane with Vucinic definitely improves us but far too risky if he gets injured or doesn't hit the ground running. We ideally need Vucinic plus another new striker plus a youngster. I'd agree re Gyan as well, very gettable. Something like:

VDV
Vucinic
Pav
Gyan
Young prospect

I'd be very happy with. Lots of options and a major improvement on what we have. Obviously I'd like the likes of Aguero, Rossi, Llorent, Eto'o etc but I think the above is realistic

How do you expect a top line striker to be happy as a bench warmer? Surely this is an unrealistic expectation.

I hope that's the case. Getting Vucinic in at this point would just massively take the pressure off so we could allow another striker purchase to go to the wire. If it doesn't materialise it will be far from ideal but not the complete disaster it will be if we don't get any.

You can never have too many strikers. Apart from keane, I wouldn't offload any of them until January. Even if we sign adebayor and vucinic.

If I was to bet on it, I reckon it would be this and a last minute loan deal when Adebayor realises Real ain't happening.

We'll then bring in Coulibaly and Leandro (in Jan) for the future with one of them hopefully stepping up by the end of the year, and if both do, then Pav or Crouch would be the casualties.

That to me seems like sensible planning anyway.

Seems a sensible idea to me.

Has there been any further developments re Odemwingie going back to yesterday's ITK about one striker coming from here and one from Italy

Any ITK on Zigic? Him and Crouchy would be soul mates, imagine the long ball opportunities!

Vucinic and Lukaku in and keane crouch and Defoe out

So we would have Vucinic Lukaku and Pav competing for 1 spot. I think that's our best scenario (realistically)

do tend to agree with Rebrab in general but think there will be three or four signings for the squad once some others have been moved on and the chase for the star signing going all summer, just a gut feeling.
Anyway getting the:beer::beer: ready and comfy chair positoned just right, sent her indoord off to her mother's for the afternoon so i can watch the mighty Spurs against the Kaiers COYS:grin:.
