Oduwa might be a shout for a wing spot (and is training/playing with the first team pre-season), but he's still a long way off Moses in development at this stage.

He is playing in the position which just about has the least requirement for experience though.

I can't believe that we're seriously pursuing this guy, he's not a top half of the prem player. All I can imagine is that we have virtually no money to spend at all and are going for cheap, willing options. I understand that we have to put money into the stadium, no probs, but to be quite so parsimonious, when you're supposedly a top premiership club with a huge amount of money coming from Sky, well, it's really beginning to piss me off.

I thought you had previously said that it was just agent talk?

It's all pretty much agent talk that I hear, but there are varying amounts of credibility depending on which agent it has originated from, and how many times it has been passed from one agent to another before it reaches me. So what I hear one week may well change a week later as a better placed source adds to, or dispels a rumour I have previously posted about. I only speak to two personally(one very well placed regarding Spurs), but my friend(and the reason I have contact with the two I do) knows quite a few as he has been involved in football(office based not pitch side)for over 40 years.

Fair enough if there's something in the Moses link. But not sure why it's thought this is an "upgrade" for Andros. Surely it's more likely he'd be a replacement for Lennon? Similar fee and pushes the average age down, which seems to be one of our prime goals.
Because being an upgrade on Lennon would make sense and there wouldn't be so much to complain about. Because Townsend has been in the news lately and Lennon's been at Everton and forgotten about.
Please, no more being sensible, it doesn't sit right round these parts!

In what way do you think they are similar, apart from the fact they both play wide?

Both get the ball and run at the defence, both look to cut in and shoot. Both inconsistent in terms of end product, both have weaknesses in their game that haven't improved. Both have stagnated as players.

Barely improves us, isn't a Spurs lad like Andros, doubt that £7m extra would go towards signing someone who'd make a real difference, but apart from that yay! And all good for the net spend.

Unfortunately the scenario you have laid out is purely an economic transfer, nothing to do with any sporting ambitions for our team. Chelsea would probably gladly sell us Moses, shows that we're no threat.

Given how tightly our transfer spend is run, i don't think you can underestimate how much £7m adds to our potential spending funds.

We've already lost out on Schneiderlin so I guess you'd better pucker up while A&C drops 'em.

I said that Poch needs.

Any Spurs fan with an ounce of common sense would know that MS was never going to come to Spurs. Your'l be quoting Messi next.

Jeez MS even said it himself that it was CL footie or nowt

Don't know whether it's fair to say lack of improvement. Been behind some pretty good players for two good clubs. A type of player that is not present at Spurs. Townsend has not faced the same level of harsh competition.

I try to be as positive as possible with our signings but how are you meant to be positive about Moses? He is a very average player who has proven his level is firmly and no higher than Stoke. I hope like hell there's something here the scouts are seeing we aren't

Pace is easy to contain. That's why Lennon has created fuck all for five years. It's intelligence that's hard to contain and if it's married to pace it's even better.

Pace is not easy to contain, that is physically impossible without being equally quick. It was Lennon's lack of motivation and work ethic which was easy to contain, not his pace directly. Just because a player is pacey and easy to contain is not the fault of their pace, but another factor.

Absolutely agreed though that pace coupled with intelligence and work ethic is ideal, and therefore what we should be pursuing.
