I'm from Birmingham and actually met Saido last year at a charity event hosted by Papa Bouba Diop. I know it's not worth much but chatted to him for a while and was friendly enough. He didn't come across arrogant or anything but was really friendly with Sessegnon.

No doubt a talent but with all the great work we are doing to move on attitude issues within the squad it seems strange to target someone that could become a negative influence.

I guess every bad egg needs a following and when it gets to 2, 3 players all backing each other then it can get worse.

Positivity breeds positivity though and maybe he can be happy in our environment.

Like most I've played football most of my life and have had a few scrapes with managers, players so forth.
Agree with what your saying, I just don't want another Ade.
If Saido can settle down and leave the attitude at the door he can become a fantastic footballer, he has all the tools to become one.

I think that he was probably told to try and pull a berba/modric by his agent, but ?united? weren't as interested as either of them thought.

If trix's info is solid and it was definitely the agent and people close to the player have said he is turning it around, it may be a good signing.

I think £15m with the potential for something like just over £20 million if he scores a bunch of goals, makes appearances, gets more international caps etc would be appropriate and something I think WBA would be prepared to accept.

People need to accept that we're probably going to have to pay a premium for proven English talent.

I hope the club surprise me, but I have to say that I'm a little underwhelmed with most of these apparent targets.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see them as good enough to take us to the next level.

Not to be negative but more realistic berahino at 22 scoring 20 goals and being homegrown I think we'd get him only at 22 mill plus. For that reason I see this as doubtful. Can't see brom selling at 15mill tbh

We probably don't have enough money to buy players good enough to take us to the next level. We can't compete with the spending of city or utd. We can only hope that poch can form them into a team and we get lucky.

It's not about individuals. It's about the sum of all parts. Think Blackburn rovers all those years ago. Or Wigan winning the FA Cup.

I'm sure there will be add ons.

If we can get £10m for Soldado, this is a no brainer.

As for attitude, keane and cantona had attitude didn't hurt utd too much (apart from the kung fu kick admittedly).

For me, the main stumbling block with Berahino was his attitude problems, which would mean he probably wouldn't succeed under Poch. IF those problems have somehow miraculously disappeared, then I wouldn't be against the signing. Still wouldn't be my first choice, but it would make sense.

To be fair to Berahino, I don't think his attitude problems ever related to being lazy in training or games and not wanting to take on instructions.

I agree with this. The ITK we had about us signing players in the £15m bracket is a little concerning, as a player costing £15m even a year ago will now probably go for £20m+. I hope that we're prepared to be a little flexible with that.

His contract is running down so they have to sell him this summer or he will end up going for less than £15m

Maybe he just isnt happy at west brom. We are not west brom. Would be a great signing for under 20m

As someone stated earlier in the thread regarding his attitude. He had the same agent as sterling and if you remember his attitude problems came when discussing a new contract and wanting to join bigger clubs. His head was turned by his agent like raheems has been. He has since sacked that agent and we have heard nothing more regarding his attitude as far as am aware.

Me personally I aren't keen and think we could sign a better player but BS and HK had a very good understanding in u21's so I would give it a chance and wouldn't be disgruntled if we signed him. Still unaware where these exciting and huge potential players for the forward line are as recent itk shows different however I appreciate things are meant to be kept hush hush

If we manage to blag £15m for Andros and £10 for Soldado even paying £20m for Berahino is a bargain.

He might not be world class but ticks all the boxes.

Young, quick, homegrown, PL proven, goal scorer, penalty taker, can play wide or st, can score against the big teams (brace against Chelsea in the 3-1). What else are we looking for exactly?

Hopefully Stambouli and Ade can be sold today.

That wasn't ITK as such was it? I thought this whole "£15million" thing came from the Supporters Trust meeting with DL back in March where what was actually said was:

"THFC’s transfer comfort zone was with younger players around the £10-15m price range and they would look to return to that policy"

I don't think that necessarily rules out spending more than £15m on any one transfer.

So rumours this morning that Ade, Dembele and Stambouli will be heading out for about £14m, and Berahino and Suarez will be coming in for about £23m.

That's not too shabby business, as we've still got Soldado, Chirches and Lennon left to fund a second forward and balance the books.

I know what you mean, PT, but Dalglish was given a load of money to build his Blackburn team. Might not seem a lot now but breaking the British transfer record with a £5M bid for Chris Sutton and buying Alan Shearer for £3.5M were seen as massive deals at the time.

Bentaleb hadn't even played league 2, yet displaced Capoue, Dembele & Paulinho.

Even without Lennon that is 4. We don't need average, making up number players, we need players that can make a difference to the 1st team.

Moses had 5 goals and 5 assists in 3 season's, playing well over 3000 mins, that's probably worse then Lennon.

Bentaleb's case is extremely rare though, and is hardly something for any club to rely on for future introductions, including for Oduwa and especially for the expectation of "player than can make a difference to the first team."

The point isn't to advocate for Moses, it's to point out that we're light at winger, which we've been now for several seasons. We cannot allow this problem to persist yet again.
