That'd be fantastic. Makes so much sense for Friedel as well. And, should Lloris go down with injury (God forbid), we've still got 2 capable GKs to see us through that time.
Who's the other capable keeper aside from Vorm?

brad was still decent last season when he played, not really sure what the point is if it's going to cost us.

With all the respect to Brad, Vorm is surely more comfortable with the sweeper role, so we wouldn't need to adjust the tictacs that much when Hugo's rested.

With Lloris signing a new 5 year deal, we may have to settle for a back-up keeper who is at Vorms' standard. I mean, not many will relish the thought of sitting on the bench behind Lloris. So if it will be Vorm, I'll be happy with that.

As good a number two as we can expect to get.

Lloris and Vorm as our keepers, mind blowing when you think back to some of the nail biting types we've had in goal over the years lol

Jesus man lol, he's a better keeper than Friedel at 43 years old or whatever he is...not least because he's far more suitable to play that sweeping role.

That's why it make imminent sense.

paying 5m for a backup keeper when we already have one doesn't make "imminent" sense.

Surprised Vorm would come just to sit on the bench, maybe we'll be loaning him back out. I hope we haven't just accepted that Hugo will be off next summer so we're already getting his replacement...

Edit: Didn't realise how old Vorm was, thought he was mid-20's!

The other thing you have to keep in mind with Vorm is salary as a motivator.

A quick Google attempt shows his reported salary per year to be ~£18k/wk (about ~£950k year), the Swans just signed Fabianski so they have no reason to give him a raise.

Moving to Spurs as a backup you have to figure that we would give him somewhere between £25k - £30k a week...over the course of a 3 year contract that would mean that he would pick up an extra £1m - £1.8m over his current contract by agreeing to be a backup to Hugo.

On his current salary picking up an extra £1m - £1.8m is the equivalent of getting an extra 1-2 years worth of pay in the same time period....that will certainly turn the head of numerous players but especially a guy who (even though GKs can play for a long time) probably doesn't have a huge number of years to earn PL money left in him.

Gks play till the late 30's so getting someone of Vorm's quality for around 6-7 years for that amount is good business imo.
Don't see Brad playing beyond this year so its good we got Vorm now, we may or may not get someone of his quality for that price next season.

i like the idea of vorm as a backup, as good a pro as friedel was his style of play was too different from Lloris whereas vorm is very good with his feet and comes out more.

I'd be very surprised if we picked up Vorm. Mainly because he's good enough to be first choice at the majority of Premier League clubs.

Our back up keeper is on his last legs... This is the perfect time to bring someone in. £5m for a international GK with Prem experience is a bargain!

Are you actually with it BG? lol

We've got some decent service from Friedel late on in his career but it has to end sometime, its not like he's only in his late thirties, he's well into his forties for God sake.

Vorm is a very good keeper who can slot in and provide a very similar style to that of Lloris which only breeds stability defensively.

Its great business IMO.
