I think that deadline (which was also agreed on by his agents IIRC) increasingly looks like events since it was set have forced a rethink, at very least that deadline was posturing. Personally I think we get him or we don't, there's no alternative on the cards and the only deadline left in the one everyone else is working to.

Of course, after Jeremy Peace went to War (hehe), the Son stuff happened pretty quickly didn't it? Its also possible that signing Son signalled the end of our interest in Berahino.

Time will tell.
Why would Son end our interest in Berahino? He is a striker which we badly need, Son isn't a striker.

Deadline day is Tuesday, 6pm close

I'm getting a bit concerned about that. Its now 2 days 9 hours away.

And in that time we want to buy 2 players, sell 4/5 and maybe loan 2 more (Veljkovic and Yedlin, if we want them to have top flight loans). That's 8/9 deals, 3 of which will be £10m+, in 57 hours.

I hope Baldini and Levy are pumped and ready to go!

£40m+ for SB and Wanyama on the last day or two of the window doesn't sound likely.

...or appealing.

It just seems like so much for two good, not great, players.

That's more than the entire new trading ground cost. Given our history of big money buys one will flop and the other will just hang about on the fringes and be sold at a big loss.

The whole point of investing in youth was so that we didn't have to spend stupid money on transfers. Dier has been pretty impressive in that DM role so really don't want to see his progress stunted there by being demoted to the bench most of the time. A Davids or a Naybet would be great but nothing more permanent.

I know we need a striker but, holy cow batman, £25m is a lot. If SB (or whoever) stays for 10 years and scores a ton of goals then it will have been good value.

If we have it to spend I just hope it turns out better than last time,

I have no idea but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we bought one type of player instead of the other. Like I said, maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

Correct me if I am wrong, but haven't we had ITK saying that Son was not brought in as a striker, so effectively we are still looking for one?

A poster on COYS saying that he met ossie ardiles who says lamela is leaving for 20 million.

I wouldn't have posted this over except for the Argentinian connection. You'd think that if anyone might know it would be ossie.

I think that was in the Lamela thread yesterday morning. From Facebook originally, not COYS.

Probably €20, not £

Strange that he was in the match squad at all if he's off. May suggest that any deal is 50/50 still.

I suppose so. Son will compete with Chadli. Pritchard will replace Lamela, should he leave. N'Jie will be third striker, bought on potential.
