Storts mentioned GFTS ages ago, long before a bid was made public...which obviously fits with Mata big time.

Yeah I saw that thanks mate. Just wanted to confirm that he was definitely talking about Mata with his Gfts, you know, before we got 25 pages guessing other names.

I dont get the constant talk of Mata replacing Lennon, especially as Mata is left footed and has played on the left for the whole of his career.

telling u man mata is the dogs! he is a top player. wud add alot to first team let alone first team squad

He would easily fit on the right wing and cutting in to the middle. The commentators while watching the match said that both arsenal and spurs were interested and it would take 25m euris to get him. They actuallt said Spurs were in a better position right now because Wenger wants Mata if Cesc goes and wont close a deal until the cesc deal is done and Spurs want him right now. Please o please DL..

He played primarily on the right of a front 3 for Valencia last year, same as he did for the Spanish U21's this Summer.

He's a big upgrade on Lennon, who I rate highly.

No problem mate, goals from the side clearly fits with Mata so as soon as the interest mounted and our interest was confirmed it was logical that there was a high chance Storts was referring to Mata.

Interesting that Wenger interviewed today seemed to hint that he intends to buy if BOTH Nasri and Fabregas go, but if only one goes then to allow someone to upgrade themselves to become a starter.

thats why it is coming out now.. its clever move.. valencia get most money off us while arsenal try n hold onto 2 players.. from arsene wenger comments tonight he wont sign him unless other 2 leave so we cud have great chance but im still bit skeptical. i think he will need some serious charming to come to us or to be convinced

Here's what Wenger said (in response to question about buying Mata):

If I translate your question you are asking if the two [Nasri & Fabregas] go do we need to sign one, then of course. They are two exceptional players and that's why personally I want to keep the two.

If I was the other players I would think 'I have a good opportunity to play'. If you have been a football player you never cry when somebody goes.

Yep, that hard part will be to convince him. No problem with Valencia as long as we pay in one go the 25m euros. Dont even think wages would be problem. mainly we would have to convince him that we want to win titles either this season or the next and get back in champns league. Maybe if we can show him with the likes of bale, luka, vdv, sandro, and maybe diarra and a great striker, we would have a squad to fight for everything.

talk is cheap sometimes and whilst i agree he will take some convincing this will all boil down to money as usual. im not convinced arsenal might go for him u know. strike while iron is hot with reagrds wenger digging in to keep those 2 which i think he will eventuallu lose. with there money its nailed on arsenal i think but who knows really what mata thinks, all the press is anti spurs imo

On a serious note if the VDV rumour is true we are fucked, maybe that will force us to go full out for Mata - which we seem to be doing, even though he's more a winger.

Protective boot for VDV :eek:mg:
