Our fans can be pretty dreadful at home.
There are times when were excellent but unless its
a massive team were against I find it very quiet at times.

I disagree with this, I think our support is very good at home. Especially for the league games. It might be a little more quiet in the cup home games against some rubbish team but the league support is great. I sit in the Park Lane, great atmosphere.

Interestingly Man City have already overtaken us, we have 11mil fans they have 18mil.

understandable - as there owners will have gathered a lot of support in the middle east.
Blackburns tie-up with India will also increase their wordwide support.

We are missing out by not building good liks with the emerging world, and will miss out on countless sponsorship opportunities to the teams that start establiching these links.

i believe that chelsea have been holding search for a star contests on national tv in India, and this will help them build strong links with fast emerging countries who do have a lot of disposable cash.

It is very disappointing that we seem so slow to explore these new markets and this is definately an area the club need to focus on.

For the last couple of seasons our home support has been poor.

Even in the Arsenal game our fans were silent for large parts of the game and the Goons were mocking us.

All of thse people thinking Liverpool are still massive I guess do not get to see much of the world.- Arsenal absolutely shit on them at the moment.

This is clearly just about brand awareness rather than actual fans

Agreed.

Liverpool fanbase is overrated outside of UK

Worldwide interest (ie who the glory hunters like)

Man U>Chelsea>Arsenal>Liverpool

Don't worry, once we sort the stadium that Chinese guy (who invests on behalf of their government) will buy us. 1.3bn new supporters, we'll be the biggest club in the world!

Some of the Africans (not all) who I work with change their team nearly every season. It doesn't really matter as they never buy a shirt or go to games. This is probably the same for a lot of the 18m City fans.

No offense to Africans, but from having stayed there I noticed they - with a very few exceptions - only supported the big 4 (then): ManU, Liverpool, Gooners, Chelski (plus Real M and Barca).
There they only support the "best" team at the moment, so the gooners and Liverpool are losing their "fans" in droves now - most probably to ManC - and will continue to do so if they improve drastically their performances.
Besides, how was the research conducted? F.ex. I am sure if you asked people in the streets of Bosnia, most of those asked would say they support ManC because of Dzeko. Drogba is a cult hero in Cote d'ivore and thus "supports" Chelski, but once he leaves Chelski they may look elsewhere.

I would have Liverpool in front of everyone in the EPL except Man Utd.

I have worked all around the world and the order (IMO) for English club support is as follows:

Man Utd - Way out in front
Liverpool - Well ahead of everyone except Man Utd
Arsenal - Mainly Africa not strong elsewhere
Tottenham - Long way off the top 3
Chelsea

Basically if you add the entire population of UAE to the number of fans Man City probably have, then you get that figure...

I hope they didn't just pick 1000 users from their site. Might have since a few of those teams like City, Newcastle and Spurs really have no business on the 13 most supported teams in the world list.
