They probably bought them for large transfer fees.

Some of the Africans (not all) who I work with change their team nearly every season. It doesn't really matter as they never buy a shirt or go to games. This is probably the same for a lot of the 18m City fans.

Not surprising Man City have overtaken us. I imagine a number of Arsenal and Liverpool fans have jumped ship.

Edit: Have you seen the loudest fans in the Premier League? It's complete bollocks, we're ranked 14th. Somehow Wigan and Arsenal are ranked higher than us.

Wow! Arsenal have 10 times as many fans as us! And United have at least 32 times as many fans as us.

Our fans can be pretty dreadful at home.
There are times when were excellent but unless its
a massive team were against I find it very quiet at times.

I would like to see how those figures are calculated, seems like a load of old tosh to me. I wonder what the figures would be if you just include Europe. Of course they won't be hard to come by, as I'm sure Talksport have an accurate country by country breakdown which helped them write this article....

edit: didn't see the bit about 1000 fans. how the fookin hell can you estimate what a billion people like based on a thousand people?!?!?

I saw some foreign bloke (brazilian or spanish..i dunno something weird) wearing an arsenal jacket with a chelsea cap.

Bottom line... foreign looking people are scum.

A sample of 1000 fans to get those figures. Doesn't seem very accurate in my opinion.

Probably taken inside the City of Manchester stadium (or whatever the plastic Arabian prince's toy's stadium is called these days)...and they still weren't that popular.

I think, after being asked, they should have to name a rough version of the starting 11 - or result against their biggest rivals. Something like that..

I think merchandising will give you a better idea of how many fans each club has.

There's no way City have 18 million fans. They are a distant number two in a provincial city with 3 million inhabitants. Never previoulsy known to have much support outside a radius of 20 miles from South Manchester, so fuck knows how in the space of 2 to 3 years they have grown a fan base from 500,000 to 18m million.

Survey is utter bollocks and this was published in todays Times.

I reckon we should do a proper count of all the Spurs fans from around the world. I'll start:

I remember the games on Spurs last US tour were like home games, the stands were full of yiddos. Contrast that to the Man City games where there were few of their fans in attendance. Chelsea was better but their fan presence wasn't as good as ours.

Maybe that San Jose partnership is working wonders or they just have few fans in the US?
