Football is a spectacle, it only makes money because people are willing to watch it (be that at the ground or on TV), support it, buy the merchandise etc.

If we have any money it's because of the fans, without us we'd have fuck all.

It's unbelievable, frankly, that this isn't understood.

The only exception to the above is those clubs owned and funded by the billionaires.

So yes, we, collectively, pay Harry's wages.
Okay, let's suppose you're right...

How about answering points two and three?

I don't have a strong feeling about points two or three either way.

For me, my major disagreement was over your point 1. I think it should be understood that without us there is no game. We shouldn't be the decision makers, but our opinion should matter.

firstly it isn't particularly difficult to surpass the achievements of recent managers, as for two decades we've being shocking. I'm also convinced that the current squad with the exception of our strikers is by far the best and most valuable we've had for years. Any half decent manager would have achieved what redknapp's achieved and then continued to improve. Instead we have a chancer with a pea size brain who revels in self promotion destroying the professional and respected name our club has.

'ArryCan you show a breakdown of income vs expenditure that shows that "the fans" pay his wages please?

I don't mean to pick on you in particular, I'm just bored shitless of this whole "We pay his wages" bollocks whenever a player or member of staff at THFC PLC has a bitch in the press about their employer.

First of all, none of us know how the funds received are allocated.

Second of all, the money given to THFC PLC is done on a purely voluntary basis.

Third of all, it seems that only football sees this, "We pay your wages" bollocks. I bet not many of those complaining about 'arry talking about some of the fans have bitched and moaned at Mark Zuckerberg for calling each individual user of Facebook a moron claiming to "pay his wages", or bitched at Tesco when their staff have spoken of the "idiot" customers they get justifying it with the mantra of "We pay your wages".

Seriously, can anybody think of any scenario other than football where the incessant bitching, moaning and abuse is justified with "we pay his wages"?

Yes, everywhere you shop in town or at the supermarket. Any member of staff calling customers idiots pretty much to their faces would be sacked by their employer. Only in football does this not happen. And us, the fans, do pay the wages of every single employee of Tottenham Hotspur. Without us, there would be no Sky money, no sponsorship and no football club - so get real and get off your high horse while your at it. Redknapp is a prick.

Clearly someone who doesn't understand that the Sky money is conditional on being in the Premiership, not on how many fans a club has, and that sponsorship would still be made/purchased even if the ground was empty due to the massive global exposure available, but what do I know, I'm a communist after all.

And being in the Premiership (consistently) is conditional to a large degree on how much money a club has. How much money a club has is conditional on how much money its fans spend in supporting it.

It appears to me he is trying to talk himself out of the job in the hope England come along this summer and offer him a deal.

Failing that, maybe he fancies the challenge of getting West Ham back in the premier league?!

would that not pay his wages?
:stupid:

Irrelevant at the end of the day. We may or may not pay Arry's salary but one thing is certain - football would be NOTHING without the fans. Arry needs to show some respect, IMO.

I don't dispute that at all, and for the record, I'm not part of the 'Harry Out' brigade...however it's clear he doesn't regard the fans all that highly, and whilst it's obviously within his right to think whatever he wants, he should try to be a little more respectful to the fans.

His recent quotes were actually a deluded attempt at being positive about the fans. Saying that 99% have enjoyed the football is incredibly positive andf optimistic, however the reason so many are pissed off with that statement is because it is obviously not true, and represents harry's complete lack of respect for the fans...even when painting them in a positive light.

He may as well have said "oh don't worry about the fans...they're just grateful for anything they can get that doesn't include relegation" which is very disappointing.

People talking about sacking him are way off the mark, as far as I'm concerned. He did brilliantly when he first came in..even better in the next season, and this season we've finished at least 6th and got to the quarter finals of the Champions League, whilst looking pretty below par in several of our games, and generally having the ability to raise expectations to such levels that the above achievement is considered a huge let-down. That's pretty good going.

However, we've ended the season poorly, and could easily have finished in the top 3 if we had improved on our strikers, or even finished our chances with our current strikers. If we carry this form into the next season, we'll be out of the running before October.

It doesn't help that Harry likes to make it clear he's up for the England job at every given opportunity either. Considering the main reason to keep him right now is to have faith in consistent management, this uncertainty over his future with us, coupled with our underperforming in the league against teams we should be beating, and throwing in the above blinkered views of the views of the supporters..it doesn't look great.

Ye i agree with what you say but we all know Harry is known for putting his foot in his mouth, its what makes harry harry. Im just not going to get myself into a rage with the bloke for him dropping another 'arry classic.

Buisness is buisness for harry, i doubt he will ever talk about having a great love for our club.

Thanks mate

I guess my view is that although I can fully understand the frustration and irritation at Harry, I think he's more than done enough to earn more time in charge. However he seems to be approaching the thin ice.
