I like the saying...
"We are not where we want to be BUT we are not where we use to be."

Spurs has definately progressed although after two consecutive 5th place under Jol, we ended 11th last season but i think that was because of the bad start and our pursuit of a quality manager in JR. Still though, we won a trophy, which we have not done so for years.
This season, we have been troubled with two players transfer activities and one we surely didn't believe or expect would happen (Keane). Both has slowed our progress but not stopped it.
This season is a make or break and for Jr to show us just how far we have gone with the evidence on the field with the quality signings that we have done. We have admittedly missed a striker signing to replace the two but we need to progress with the league, CC and Europe. The FA cup starts next year and lets hope by January with the spondools we have, we can sign a quality striker(s) and pursue to win things and top 6 finish.

All in all, we have progressed - as in all in life, there are excitements, expectations and disappointment - i just hope we put the disappointment behind and move towards our targets on and off field and fulfill our expectations.

January was good and could have been better but here's to the new season full of good expectations...

We need to translate all this talk into form on the pitch against villa!

A must win game for us, and it should give the season a kick start.

The squad looks absolute quality. With a bit of luck and some passion from the players we will have a great season!

Yep we can say whatever we want now but we need to do our talking on the pitch. The next 6 league games will shape our season as we have 6 'nice' fixtures 4 of which being at home so its a great opportunity for to get on a good run & get ourselves into a good position from where we can challenge for top 6. Who knows if we are in a good position in Jan & we get a quality striker then maybe top 4. Time will tell....

Villa will be a tough game, I'd be ok with a draw, but then we need to start picking up the points big time, and start averaging 2 points a game for a few months. That will propel us up the league, everything could start looking rosy again, to infinity, and beyond!!

I do like looking back to some of the players we had 5 years ago, you realise we have come very far in very little time, and unlike a lot of teams that have progressed we have had very little coming from within the club, from the academy.

We haven't looked anything like the 5th place team of 05/06 in a long time.

Better individuals maybe, but progress as a team? debatable.

Good point although Everton didnt look like a 5th place team last season. I dont think we are any worse than any team outside the top 4 but look to be on a par with the likes of Portsmouth, Villa & Man City all fighting for 5th

Everton had the consitency, which is key.

You have to beat the teams you are better than, but we haven't done that.

We have some real quality in our squad but the depth doesn't look as good imho. Had someone offered £20,000,000 for Keane two or so seasons ago I think most would have taken it / bit the hand of the person offering it especially when he himself was stroppy and Defoe was on form.
i hope the fringe players come good I think we'll need to use a few this season at least. I believe Ramos will play some especially with seven places on the bench. He gave O'hara a chance and he's been a useful squad player. Delighted we got Corluka late on.

Player for player against our peers there is no reason why a top four finish shouldn't be achieved.

Ramos' challenge is to get them bound in to a team in the team sense of the word.

If we can be Everton-like with team spirit and bonding then watch us fly.

We need to get the players that we have to gel and play consistent football.
We need them to understand the game plan.
At times against Chelsea, we looked as if we didn't know what we were suppose to do.
Yes, a win at villa will really show character and winning attitude, something we lacked once we won the CC last season.
