Imagine if Mancini had said some of things that Harry has this season.

Well, in fairness, he did get away with promising them a top 4 finish last season:wink:

Rafa 'I guarantee it' Benitez, made the same promise and didn't get of so lightly:hump:

All a bit sensationalist really...

HR has done a good job, he really has and there is a contigent of fans in every club that just think that unless you play every game like Barcelona and win everything going that it's not enough.

But he is not above reproach and has and will continue to make mistakes. That's normal... Plenty on here have said whom they might like as an alternative manager should HR leave for England or get pushed at any point, and most names mentioned are managers who speak their minds (Mourinho, Holloway, Coyle)... So I think people need to make up their minds what's more important, results or media bore.

In the results category HR has been good, not marvelous but definitely good and it has been a bloody great 2 seasons, with this one tailing off.

We have attracted even more quality and are looking to strengthen again.

Could we have done better? Yeah sure, could HR have given the odd interview differerntly? Sure again..

But can we stop with the over vitriolic responses, it's like the playground all over again...

It's not HR vs us, it's HR voicing his opinion that there is a faction within the fanbase that is rather deluded and he is right. SHould he have voiced it? Possibly not, but unless you're one of those fans who phones Talksport to complain bitterly about Spurs this season, then you are not even implicated.

If you gave a modest talksport comment that we could have done better, then again, I seriously doubt HR was talking about you... if you went on TS and ranted and asked for HR's head, then shame on you.

People have ludicrous expectations, sometimes fed by the club, but anyone who SERIOUSLY thought that we could challenge for the title this season were setting themselves up for the fall. Yes HR stated we could and at that point the table suggested we had a shot, but it did rely on a lot of results going our way and a continued run of good form.

Anyone who watched this season will know that we have been sketchy ALL YEAR! How many games have we come back from the brink? Way too many.

The CL was great, but it was a distraction and one we or the players are not used to. That is what experience gives you and the players and management will be ebtter for it.

So, let's all cool it a little... HR got it a little wrong in the interview, but I would rather that risk, than a manager who I frankly fall asleep to whilst they reel off the same sound bites week after week like most players do.

Perspective people... as always, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Not me.

Harry needs to learn his place.

i dont see the chairman come out saying "what's he got to moan about? oh yeah cos he's had it so good, winning league titles every year with such massive clubs as West Ham, and any south coast club that'll have him..."

lets face it we're doing each other some good so no need to (constantly) bite the hands of those (fans) who feed you. Especially when it's common knowledge that the first sniff of a certain job will mean he "drops us like we're hot"

At best It's not going to endear you to the locals
At worst it could have a negative effect on a certain job you may be interested in...

I'd just like to know why people boo the team and then are shocked when the good players leave.

Like Bale is 80% of our potential.

In many ways, we have been a better side without him.

I'd rather Harry criticised the sides we're competing against than go on about how fucking great they are and that we don't have a hope in hell of displacing any of them.

The Bale quote was utterly ludicrous though.

Basically if you took West Ham and Blackpool out of the league this season(thereby reducing it to the original 18 team league) we'd have finished 2nd! Sickening. But it does give me confidence going into next season that if we just sort out the basics then we can compete, therefore the line about this being as good as it gets is wrong.

Wow that is a incredible statistic. And considering we only took 1 point of Wigan, does give confidence that we can do so much better in the league. But like others in the thread you have mis-interpreted the "good as it gets" comment.

From the OS:

Harry's final thoughts
23 May 2011

Harry Redknapp offers his final thoughts on a campaign that took in destinations from Bern to Milan to Madrid and concluded back at the Lane on Sunday where victory was sealed with the final kick of the game to ensure a fifth place finish in the Premier League and our entry into next season’s Europa League.

“It has been a real joy to be involved with this team throughout the campaign. The whole season has been enjoyable. It has been a fantastic year and as good as any I have had. For me, it has been even more successful than last year.

“We couldn’t quite make the top four again, however, to have played in the Champions League and got the results that we did to make the last eight in our first-ever year in the competition was an amazing achievement and to finish fifth in the Premier League, the lads have done so well, they have been fantastic.

“There are so many great games and great nights to look back on - coming back from 3-0 down against Young Boys when it looked like we were going out in the qualifying stage of the Champions League, winning in Milan and coming away from Anfield with a rare three points.

“Beating the European champions Inter Milan at the Lane was a special night. We really ripped them to pieces, it was a great performance as was going to the Emirates and winning there for the first time, which was a big day for the fans. The 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture was also a fantastic game.

“You only had to be at White Hart Lane this season to see what it has meant to the fans. I have to give credit to the supporters for the fantastic atmosphere they have generated not just at home but on our travels both in the Premier League and abroad. They have got behind the team and we have given them something to be proud of.

“It has been a season of great football and I have enjoyed the way we have played. We have played some fantastic stuff.

“We obviously had a dodgy little run late on where we were drawing too many games all of a sudden but we will come back next year and give it another go.

“This is a great club, the players that we want to keep are on long contracts and we will look to strengthen further in the summer in order to push on.”

In bold Aich gives credit to the supporters, admits lack of form and gives signs of ambition for next year. Pretty much clears up issues from his sky interview, albeit from the happy clappy OS.

Nice to see him give credit to the fans and show ambition, the interview the other day was probably the result of being royally f***ed off with the question he got asked. That interview must have been cleaned up by the press office though as it does not contain thwe word "terrific" once

one of their quotes from bluemoon lol;

What a loser! I'll guarantee Dalglish won't be saying anything like that! Think like that and the players will believe it!

Exactly - bet the likes of Modric and Van der Vaart are pretty chuffed hearing that
