Everywhere we go.......

Don't get me wrong. It's a good song. And anything that makes the atmosphere better is most welcome.

But we do now have a better alternative to the same tune......if only we make the effort to change it now, before it's too late. I first heard it on Sunday at the Torch:

Welcome on our train
Welcome on our train
Black, white or yid
Even with your kid
Welcome on our train

It's so much better for a number of reasons.

1. It's unique to us and not just something that we copied off Sheffield Utd (or any number of other lower league clubs, apparently).

2. It defines what we're about as a club. Racists not welcome. Anti-Semites not welcome. Unlike some other clubs.

3. It's a big fuck you to Chelsea and the scum that follow them.

So please............can we all make a concerted effort to make this the version that we sing? Let everywhere we go drop away like a pace maker in a race that has done its job before letting the star attraction take over.

So in a football stadium you want us to sing about coming on our train?........

Fair enough on route to the game on a train but in the stadium, it's a no.

It's a metaphor, FFS!

No wonder Spurs never have any original songs!

On the subject of new songs, what's the one about someone, a Gooner I think, getting 'his fucking head kicked in'?

You really don't want to know, it's abhorrent.

If you were on the terraces, or hanging around a train station or on your way to the ground on any given Saturday afternoon in the late '70s and through the '80s you'll know what I mean.

Songs about "kicking someone's effin head in" belong in the dustbin of those shameful decades to which I hope I'll never witness again in my lifetime. This song, perhaps unintentionally, serves to glorify that shameful era.

Didn't start supporting Spurs until 1990 so I have no memories of the 'dark days' but I did think that song was shameful when I first heard it.

I'm sure loads will dismiss it as 'banter' but as far as I'm concerned the person who came up with that song has got issues, and those that sing it need to have a word with themselves.

Plus it's yet another song about bloody Arsenal (though I heard a Chelsea version during the cup final).

I'd rather we changed the Lewis Holtby song to say Ryan Mason first. Love that song.

Just got in from the pub so probably should not be posting and agree that the 70s and 80's were a very dark era and remember well the derby day chaos, ICF etc. However, I still miss those days on the shelf which is when I really fell in love with this club.

I'm only a poor little yiddo
I stand at the back of the shelf
I go to the bar
to buy a lager
and only buy one for myself

hic!

Goodnight

I think I agree, but I'd still like to know the lyrics to boost my alpha male/hoolie cred. I fear it's not what it used to be.

Ha, I'd forgotten that song, was one of my faves a few years back. That and 'my old man'.

It's slightly antisemitic, but in a light hearted way. I think we can all agree that light hearted anti-antisemitism never hurt anyone.

This is an awful idea, sorry. Doesn't even sound good.

The whole point of the everywhere you go is that it's simple and everyone wants to sing it. That's why pretty much every club uses it now.

I was around in those times dude and they were pretty dark. I had some mates in our firm and I can tell you some of the violence, particularly with the Chav's, was sickening, Agree with your comments.
